Maruti Suzuki leads with 173,599 units, while Tata Motors and Hyundai see a YoY decline. Ola Electric regains the top spot in e2W sales.

OEM-wise auto sales - January 2025

Here are the auto sales reported by various OEMs for January 2025

Maruti Suzuki India 
Passenger vehicle market leader Maruti Suzuki India has announced its wholesales (dispatches to showroom) numbers for January 2025. At 173,599 vehicles, up 4% YoY (January 2024: 166,802 units), this constitutes its highest monthly dispatches in the first 10 months of FY2025, ahead of the festival-laden October 2024 (159,591 units). Tata Motors 
Tata Motors has announced wholesales of 48,076 passenger vehicles in January 2025, down 10% year on year (January 2024: 53,633 units). This includes 5,240 electric vehicles, whose sales are down 25% YoY (January 2024: 6,979 EVs).

Hyundai Motor India
Hyundai Motor India, the second-ranked passenger vehicle manufacturer after Maruti Suzuki, will be banking on the Union Budget-driven measures, particularly the boost in income-tax relief, to drive sales in the coming months and year. Its wholesales of 54,003 units in January 2025 were down 5% year on year (January 2024: 57,115 units), making it the third month in a row to see a decline. In the first 10 months of FY2025, the Korean car and SUV maker has seen sales decline for six months.

Mahindra & Mahindra
Sustained, strong demand for most of its SUVs sees Mahindra & Mahindra hit 50,000-unit monthly sales for the third time in FY2025. While the Scorpio twins, 3XO, XUV700 and Bolero are the main growth drivers, the Thar Roxx five-door has revved up volumes. With 453,019 SUVs sold in the first 10 months of this fiscal, M&M is now just 6,858 units shy of surpassing its record sales of 459,877 units in FY2024. Read more. 

Honda Cars India Ltd
Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) reported total sales of 12,304 units in January 2025, with domestic sales reaching 7,325 units and exports accounting for 4,979 units. The company's cumulative sales for the fiscal year April 2024 to January 2025 reached 103,944 units, marking a 7% growth compared to 97,164 units in the same period last year. Read more.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor
Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) recorded total sales of 29,371 units in January 2025, representing a 19% increase from 24,609 units in January 2024. The company's domestic sales reached 26,178 units, while exports accounted for 3,193 units. Read more. 

JSW MG Motor India 
JSW MG Motor India recorded sales of 4,455 units in January 2025, marking a 256% increase compared to the same period last year. Electric vehicles dominated the company's sales, with the MG Windsor, Comet, and ZS EV models accounting for more than 70% of total units sold. Read more.

Hero MotoCorp
Hero MotoCorp delivered 442,873 units of motorcycles and scooters in January 2025, with domestic sales of 412,378 units and exports of 30,495 units. The company's global business recorded a 141% growth compared to January 2024, driven by demand in markets including Bangladesh and Colombia. Read more.

TVS Motor Company
TVS Motor Company recorded total sales of 397,623 units in January 2025, marking a 17% increase from 339,513 units in January 2024. The company's international business showed significant growth with exports rising 46% to 101,055 units, compared to 69,343 units in the previous year. Read more. 

Royal Enfield
Royal Enfield recorded total sales of 91,132 motorcycles in January 2025, marking a 20% increase from 76,187 units in January 2024. The company's domestic sales reached 81,052 units, up 15% from 70,556 units, while exports grew 79% to 10,080 units compared to 5,631 units in the same period last year. Read more.

Ola Electric Mobility
Ola Electric, which had lost its No. 1 rank to Bajaj Auto in December 2024, has bounced back in January. With 24,330 EVs sold, it pipped TVS to the title by 542 units. TVS, which was ahead in each of the first four weeks of the month, sold fewer units compared to Ola in the January 29-31 period. Of the 97,677 e2Ws sold in January, Ola, TVS, Bajaj Auto and Ather Energy command an 84% share.
