What continues to accelerate scooter sales is the leading OEMs rolling out refreshed as well as new models, steady rural and semi-urban demand and the sustained surge of customer demand for electric scooters, which are the driving force for the rapid advance of the 3-2W industry.

Like the overall scooter industry (ICE + EV), electric scooters also registered a new high for H1 dispatches – 978,017 units, up 103% YoY (April-September 2025: 481,199 units). As a result of this doubling of sales, the e-scooter share in total scooter wholesales has risen to 20% from 13% in H1 FY2026.

While electric scooter market leader TVS crossed 300,000 sales, Bajaj Auto surpassed 250,000 units for the first time in a fiscal H1. Together, they command 58% of the record 978,017 EVs in first-half FY2027.

Scooter Sales Outlook for the Festive Season and Rest of FY2027

With the festive season underway and showrooms well stocked with popular models, the scooter industry will to looking to capitalise on the strong momentum it has achieved in the first half of the current fiscal year. Apex dealer body FADA has stated that the two-wheeler industry will be banking on “stronger booking-to-retail conversion on auspicious days, supported by rural cashflows, easier finance and rising EV interest.”

Will Q3 (October-December 2026) and Q4 (January-March 2027) prove even better than the first two quarters for the scooter sector? That remains to be seen but with the current near-30% growth rate, one can expect scooter makers to surpass the 10 million wholesales milestone for the first time in FY2027.
