Vietnamese EV maker, which entered India in September 2025, delivers noteworthy performance to be ranked fourth in the electric passenger vehicle segment. While the VF6 and VF7 e-SUVs account for 5,595 units in first-half FY2027, the Limo Green with over 7,000 units is Vinfast India’s best-selling model.

Vinfast India sells 14,600 EVs since market entry 14 months ago

Vinfast Auto India, the local arm of the Vietnamese electric vehicle major VinFast, has delivered 14,637 zero-emission passenger vehicles to customers since its market launch on September 6, 2025 through to October 14, 2026. As per Vahan, this gives the company a 4% share of the 343,876 e-PVs bought in the past 13-and-a-half months.

These retail sales also give Vinfast India the No. 4 ranking in the e-PV segment, after Tata Motors (136,989 units, 40% share), Mahindra & Mahindra (77,234 e-SUVs, 22% share) and JSW MG Motor India (70,149 units, 20% share). It is a noteworthy performance, given that the company has plugged into the Indian EV market barely 14 months ago and is ahead of well-established OEMs like Maruti Suzuki, BYD India and Tesla.

The American EV maker, which plugged into the Indian market at the same time as Vinfast albeit with a luxury EV (Tesla Model Y) has sold 1,126 units in the same 14-month period.

In just about 14 months, Vinfast India delivered 14,637 EVs to customers with its highest sales in September (3,292 units). This gives it a 4% share and No. 4 spot after Tata, M&M and JSW MG.

Vinfast India Monthly Sales: September 2026 Peak and H1 FY2027 Production

As the retail sales since launch data table (above) reveals, monthly deliveries to customers crossed the 1,000-unit mark for the first time in April (1,322 units) and scaled a high of 3,292 units in September which also saw the overall e-PV industry register record monthly sales of 35,995 units.

As per SIAM, the first six months of FY2027 saw Vinfast India produce 14,116 EVs at its manufacturing plant in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, and dispatch (wholesales) 13,307 units with August (3,028 units) witnessing the highest monthly factory dispatches to date. Retail sales in H1 FY2027 were 11,172 units.

LIMO GREEN BEST-SELLING VINFAST MODEL, VF7 AHEAD OF VF6 IN FIRST-HALF FY2027

Since Vahan does not provide model-wise retail sales details, a look at SIAM wholesales data offers a clue to the sales trends of each of the four Vinfast models. While the wholesale split for the Limo Green and VF MPV 7 for September is not available, the 7-seater EVs’ combined wholesales in September, as per SIAM, were 905 units. The other two models – VF6 and VF7 – registered 323 and 625 units respectively.

Of the 13,307 EVs dispatched to Vinfast showrooms between April and September 2026, the seven-seater Limo Green commercial fleet car with over 7,000 units (estimated) is the No. 1 model for Vinfast India in H1 FY2027 with a 54% model-wise share. The trend is the same as in Q1 FY2027 (April-June 2026) when the Green Limo (2,746 units) accounted for 46% of Vinfast India’s total wholesales of 6,001 units, substantially more than the VF7 and VF6 e-SUVs and the VF MPV 7.

Launched on June 5 – World Environment Day – by Green SM, India is the fifth international market for this Vinfast Group company after Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia, and the Philippines for the launch of the fully electric taxi service. The Limo Green marked Vinfast’s foray into the Indian commercial vehicle segment, joining mass-market carmakers offering fleet-specific models, including Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Toyota and Hyundai.

Maintaining the trend in Q1, the Limo Green 7-seater EV is the best-selling Vinfast model in H1 FY2027 with an over 50% share, followed by the VF7 (3,519 units), VF6 (2,076 units) and MPV7.

Vinfast VF7 Price, Range and Rivals

The VF7, the premium e-SUV in the Vietnamese manufacturer’s Indian line-up, is the second best-selling model with 3,519 units and a 26% share of H1 FY2027 wholesales. Priced between Rs 22.99 lakh and Rs 28.09 lakh, the VF7 rivals the Mahindra XEV 9e, Mahindra XEV 9S and Tata Harrier EV.

It is available with either a 59.6kWh or 70kWh battery pack option with an ARAI-claimed range of up to 532km. The 70kWh battery-equipped top-spec Sky and Sky Infinity variants do the 0-100kph run in 5.8 seconds, making them among the fastest mass-market EVs in India.

Vinfast VF6 Price, Range and Rivals

The VF6 (2,076 units) is ranked third in terms of sales in H1 FY2027 and a 16% share. The VF6, priced from Rs 18.19 lakh to Rs 20.09 lakh (ex-showroom), is the company’s most affordable EV in India and is positioned below the VF7. It comes with a 59.6kWh battery pack mated with either a 177hp or a 204hp electric motor, depending on the chosen variant.

It offers a front-wheel-drive (FWD) setup and accelerates from 0-100kph in 8.9 seconds. Rivals to the VF6, which has a claimed range of 463km-480km, include the Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6, MG ZS EV, Toyota Ebella, Maruti e Vitara, and the Tata Sierra EV. Both the VF6 and VF7 e-SUVs have achieved 5-star Bharat NCAP crash test safety ratings.

Vinfast VF MPV 7 Price, Range and Rivals

The single-variant VF MPV 7, priced at Rs 24.49 lakh (ex-showroom) and launched on April 15, has clocked sales of an estimated 530 units in the past six months, which gives it a 4% model-wise share of Vinfast India’s wholesales in H1 FY2027. The seven-seater VF MPV 7 comes with a 60.13kWh battery pack and has an ARAI-rated range of 517km. This three-row, all-electric MPV has the Kia Carens Clavis and the BYD eMax 7 as its main rivals.

Vinfast VF5 Launch in India and Likely Rivals

Vinfast will be looking to achieve higher sales traction when it launches the VF5 hatchback later this year. The VF5, which is designed to bridge the gap between the entry-level VF3 and the larger VF7, is likely to go head-to-head against the Tata Tiago EV or Punch EV, depending upon its specifications.
