TVS Motor Company Two-Wheeler Sales Rise 21% in August 2026
The Bengaluru-based manufacturer sold 591,437 two-wheelers last month, up from 490,788 units in August 2025, with electric vehicles and exports recording stronger growth.
TVS Motor Company posted a 21% increase in two-wheeler sales in August 2026, selling 591,437 units against 490,788 units in the corresponding month last year. The growth was broad-based, with domestic volumes, electric vehicles, and international shipments all recording year-on-year gains.
Domestic two-wheeler sales rose 18% to 433,796 units in August 2026, compared to 368,862 units in August 2025. The domestic market remained the larger contributor to overall volumes, accounting for roughly 73% of total two-wheeler sales for the month.
The electric two-wheeler segment outpaced the overall growth rate by a considerable margin. TVS sold 59,453 electric two-wheelers in August 2026, up from 25,138 units in August 2025, a year-on-year increase of 137%. The segment has been expanding steadily as consumer adoption of electric mobility widens across urban and semi-urban markets in India.
TVS Two-Wheeler Exports Rise 29% in August 2026
International business added further momentum. Two-wheeler exports rose 29% to 157,641 units in August 2026 from 121,926 units a year earlier. Overseas markets have become an increasingly important component of TVS's overall volume, and the August figure reflects continued traction in the company's international footprint.
Why the August 2025 Base Was Already Strong
The August 2025 base itself was not a weak one. TVS had recorded approximately 490,788 two-wheeler sales that month, a period when the segment as a whole outperformed the passenger vehicle market. Carmakers had seen rare synchronized declines that month, with GST-related speculation prompting buyers to defer purchases and dealers to keep inventories lean. Two-wheelers, by contrast, had benefitted from early festive season demand, with Onam and Ganesh Chaturthi arriving ahead of their usual calendar slot. The 21% growth recorded in August 2026 comes on top of that already elevated base, making the year-on-year comparison more meaningful.
Electric Two-Wheelers Cross 10% of TVS's Sales Mix
The month's performance also reflects the broader shift within TVS's product mix. The sharp rise in electric two-wheeler volumes — now accounting for over 10% of total two-wheeler sales — points to a gradual rebalancing of the company's domestic portfolio toward electrification, even as conventional internal combustion engine models continue to drive the bulk of volumes.
