The Auto Expo India's journey began modestly in 1986 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, primarily showcasing indigenous automotive advancements. It quickly gained momentum, with increased international participation in 1993 reflecting a growing global interest in the Indian market. By 1998, the expo had firmly established itself as a major event, attracting significant media attention and showcasing new vehicles from global giants like Daewoo and Honda.

The new millennium saw the Auto Expo evolve into a truly international spectacle, with a focus on cutting-edge technologies and concept cars.  The frequency increased to every two years, reflecting the rapid pace of development in the industry.  

Today, the Auto Expo alternates between the "Motor Show" and the "Components Show", catering to different segments of the industry. It continues to be a pivotal platform for showcasing India's automotive prowess, facilitating collaborations, and driving the demand for advanced vehicles. 

The 2025 Auto Expo is expected to see major announcement from the likes of Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai Motor etc.. 

A key focus of Auto Expo 2025 will be on electric vehicles (EVs), with Maruti Suzuki expected to unveil its e-Vitara and Hyundai launching an electric variant of the Creta.  This "redoubled EV push" reflects the growing demand for sustainable mobility solutions in India. Tata Motors is also expected to make several announcements today.

Chinese automakers are also making a comeback, showcasing their latest technologies and models.  Companies like BYD and MG Motor India are expected to unveil new EVs and advanced driver-assistance systems.  The return of major two-wheeler manufacturers like Hero MotoCorp and Bajaj Auto adds to the excitement, with potential reveals of electric scooters and motorcycles.

Beyond product launches, the expo is expected to highlight advancements in connected car technology, autonomous driving, and shared mobility solutions.  With a focus on "future mobility," the event will likely showcase innovative concepts and prototypes, providing a glimpse into the future of transportation in India.
