Olectra showcases electric mobility innovations at Bharat Mobility Global Expo

Electric bus manufacturer Olectra Greentech Ltd showcased its latest innovations, including the Blade Battery Chassis, a redesigned 12-meter Blade Battery Platform, and newly styled 9-meter City and 12-meter Coach buses at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. These innovations underscore the company’s focus on developing efficient and environmentally friendly public transport solutions.

One of the key highlights was the Blade Battery technology, developed by BYD. The battery has undergone rigorous safety tests, such as nail penetration and furnace trials, without incidents of fire or explosion. It offers 30 percent more energy storage, enabling buses to travel up to 500 kilometers on a single charge. Its compact and lightweight design enhances space efficiency and vehicle stability, while its lifespan of over 5,000 charge cycles ensures durability and reliability.

The new buses are equipped with features designed to improve passenger comfort and safety. These include fully digital instrument panels, electronic hydraulic power steering, real-time vehicle tracking systems, reverse park assist systems, USB charging ports, roof-mounted air conditioning, and cantilever seats. In-wheel motors and advanced braking systems contribute to smoother and safer rides.

Features such as Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, GPS tracking, CCTV cameras, air suspension, and kneeling mechanisms enhance overall safety and comfort. Wheelchair ramps and inclusive designs make the buses accessible to all passengers, including those with special needs.

With over 2,200 electric vehicles in operation across India as of September 30, 2024, Olectra’s buses have collectively traveled more than 30 crore kilometers, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by over 2.7 lakh tons, the company said. This reduction is equivalent to planting 1.24 crore trees. By replacing diesel buses with electric ones, the company has saved approximately 10 crore liters of diesel, contributing to lower fossil fuel dependency and improved urban air quality.

Olectra secured a large electric bus order for 5,150 buses from MSRTC, Maharashtra. Additionally, its electric tippers are useful in sectors such as construction, roadwork, and mining by offering noise-free and pollution-free alternatives.

Currently, Olectra’s buses operate in 10 states and one union territory, providing eco-friendly travel options to millions of passengers. The buses are manufactured at a state-of-the-art facility in Hyderabad, Telangana, adhering to strict quality standards.
