Hyundai Motor India surpasses 50,000 sales for the second time this fiscal in January
Ongoing fiscal saw the company surpass the 50,000-unit monthly sales mark in July 2022; set to drive past the half-a-million cumulative sales milestone for the third time.
Hyundai Motor India has reported domestic market sales of 50,106 units in January 2023, which constitutes 14% year-on-year growth (January 2022: 44,022 units). This is the second instance of the company surpassing the 50,000-unit sales mark in the ongoing fiscal year, having previously done so in July 2022 (50,500 units).
Commenting on the January 2023 numbers, Tarun Garg, Chief Operating Officer, Hyundai Motor India said, “We have begun CY2023 on a high note recording double-digit growth in January. The recent launch of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 has generated high customer excitement and registered excellent booking numbers, fortifying our commitment towards bringing benchmark electric vehicles for the Indian market.”
According to the company, its SUVs – Creta, Venue, Tucson, Alcazar and Kona Electric – continue to maintain strong sales momentum in their segments. This lot of five SUVs together sold 27,532 units in January, which accounts for 55% of total PV sales.
With 10 months of FY2023 over, Hyundai Motor India has recorded cumulative sales of 469,945 units, up 20% YoY. The Chennai-based company, which registered its best-ever annual sales of 552,511 units in CY2022, is set to cross the half-a-million units milestone again in FY2023. With two months left for the ongoing fiscal year to close, it is just 30,055 units shy of the big number, which should be surpassed in February 2023 itself. It had previously crossed the 500,000 sales mark for the first time in FY2017 (509,705 units) and then in FY2018 (536,241 units). In FY2022, total sales were 481,500 units.
