TVS Jupiter Sells Record 1.46 Million Units in FY2026 and 9 Million Since Launch

The Jupiter, TVS Motor Co’s flagship scooter and India’s No. 2 best-seller in the booming scooter market, has gone past the 90 lakh or nine million-units wholesales milestone in the domestic market. Launched on September 16, 2013, the Jupiter scooter brand, first introduced as a 110cc model and then in 125cc avatar, has sold a total of 90,10,180 units till end-March 2026. Around 154,000 units have also been exported over the past 13 fiscal years.

FY2026 saw the Jupiter register its best-ever 12-month sales in India – 14,63,328 units, up 32% YoY – selling an additional 356,043 units over FY2025’s 11,07,285 units and making it the second fiscal in a row that this scooter sold over a million units. This stellar performance, which translates into 4,009 Jupiter scooters being sold each day in FY2026, saw the Jupiter’s share of TVS’ record scooter sales of 2.30 million units rise to 64% from 61% in FY2025.

FY2026 saw combined sales of the 110cc and 125cc Jupiter hit a new high of 1.46 million units and a 64% share of TVS’ record 2.30 million scooters. The last million sales have come in only 8 months!

TVS’ best-selling two-wheeler is the closest rival to India’s No. 1 scooter, the Honda Activa. In FY2026, the Jupiter maintained its position as TVS’ best-selling two-wheeler, selling more than the combined sales of the next best TVS two-wheelers: Apache series motorcycles (571,376 units), Raider 125 (426,877 units) and NTorq 125 (363,904 units). The Jupiter’s pace of sales was extremely rapid in FY2026. In fact, the last one million units – 10,30,278 units – were sold in just eight months! This is better than the run from 7 to 8 million which took 11 months. And the Jupiter’s highest monthly sales yet came in August 2025 when 142,411 units were dispatched to showrooms in India, up 59% YoY.

A glimpse of the Jupiter’s promising future came in less than two years after launch 13 years ago. On May 14, 2015, the scooter crossed the 500,000-unit sales mark. Thirty months later, on June 13, 2016, it crossed the million-sales milestone and on September 26, 2017, the 2-million sales mark was surpassed. The four-million milestone came up early in FY2021 and five million in June 2022. The six-million sales milestone came up in October 2023, the seven-million mark in the first half of FY2025, with the 8-million milestone crossed in mid-August 2025.

While the 113cc Jupiter (left) was launched in September 2013, the TVS flagship scooter’s sales got a booster shot with the Jupiter 125 in October 2021 just as the consumer shift to 125cc was happening.

Family Scooter in 113cc and 125cc Avatars

The 113cc Jupiter, launched in September 2013, received its most comprehensive update after 11 years including a new micro-hybrid system, a 33-litre underseat storage area that can accommodate two half-face helmets and a Bluetooth-compatible LCD display on higher variants. The engine, which develops 7.91bhp of power at 6500rpm and 9.8 Nm torque at 5000rpm, helps the Jupiter reach a top speed of 82kph and delivers fuel efficiency of 50.2kpl in the city and 56.4kpl on the highway. Priced from Rs 73,400 through to Rs 86,900 (ex-showroom), the 113cc Jupiter competes with the Honda Activa and Hero Destini 110.

Following the success of its first 125cc scooter, the NTorq, TVS introduced the Jupiter 125 in October 2021. The feature-laden, bigger and more powerful Jupiter 125 with industry-first features such as the largest under-seat storage, segment-leading longest seat, neo-masculine styling and high mileage has proved to be a growth driver for the brand, alongside the original 113cc model. This model received its most comprehensive update in October 2025. Priced from Rs 77,000 through to Rs 87,800, ex-showroom, this TVS scooter, as per Autocar India, “provides a nearly-perfect combination of performance, practicality and efficiency that Indians keep lining up for.”

The Jupiter 125 produces 8.04 bhp of power at 6500rpm and 10.5 torque at 4500rpm, has a top speed of 95kph, and despite its power and output, delivers decent mileage of 50kpl as well. Equipped with a 5.1-litre fuel tank, the Jupiter 125 delivers a real-world riding range of around 240km to 275km. The Jupiter 125, available in 4 variants (Drum Alloy, Disc, DT SXC, and SmartXonnect), counts the Suzuki Access and Honda Activa 125 as its main rivals.

In FY2025, TVS sold a record 2.30 million scooters including best-ever 1.46 million Jupiters and 363,904 NTorqs and saw its scooter market share rise to a new fiscal-year high of 28 percent.

Jupiter Helps Power TVS’ Scooter Market Share to 28%

Since its launch, the Jupiter, along with the NTorq 125, has helped give TVS a strong position in India’s fast-growing scooter market. Within a year of the Jupiter’s launch, the company’s scooter market share grew from 12.68% to 15.19% in FY2015 and 16.36% in FY2018, when the TVS NTorq 125 was introduced in the penultimate month of that fiscal.

Since then, the Jupiter-NTorq combine has accelerated TVS Motor Co’s scooter market share which has risen to an all-time high of 28% in FY2026, next only to market leader Honda’s 39%, which is down from the 41.50% that HMSI had FY2025 and 43% in FY2024 (see OEM-wise scooter sales and market share for FY2026 above).

Proof of the Jupiter powering TVS’ scooter sales can be amply seen in the company’s sales numbers. Of the company’s cumulative scooter sales of 14.40 million (1,44,03,474 units) from FY2014 till end-FY2026, the Jupiter accounts for 9 million units (90,10,180 units), which makes for a commanding contribution of 62.55% including a new fiscal-year high of 64% in FY2026. This makes for a tripling of its share of TVS scooter sales since launch . . . from 21% in FY2014 to 64% in FY2026.

Given the current rapid rate of growth, it won’t be surprising if the Jupiter sells another million units in the next 8-odd months, which means the TVS flagship scooter should hit the 10 million or 1 crore sales milestone before CY2026 is out.
