TVS Apache sells record 571,376 units in FY2026, captures 38% share of 150-200cc bike market
Strong 28% YoY growth sees the TVS Apache series surpass half-a-million units for the first time and enables TVS to clock record motorcycle sales of 1.41 million units in FY2026. Now in its 21st year, the Apache brand has sold nearly 7 million units including 4.38 million in the past 12 years.
For OEMs with multiple-product firepower, it’s often that a single product provides an extra dose of ammo. Like the Jupiter is to TVS Motor Co’s scooter sales, the Apache brand is to the company’s motorcycle numbers. While the Jupiter helped power sales of a record 2.30 million scooters (up 18% YoY) in FY2026, the Apache series enabled TVS motorcycle sales to soar to a new high of 1.41 million motorcycles. Add 523,240 mopeds and TVS’ total 2W sales in FY2026 were a record 4.24 million units in FY2026, up 21% (FY2025: 3.51 million units).
As per apex industry body SIAM’s wholesales numbers for FY2026, the Apache series of motorcycles registered factory dispatches of 571,376 units, up 28% YoY (FY2025: 446,218 units). This is 21,000 units more Autocar Professional’s forecast of a record 550,000 units published in mid-December 2025. In FY2026, the Apache sold an additional 144,499 units YoY and accounted for a higher 40% model-wise share (versus 37% in FY2025) of TVS motorcycle sales.
With this highest-ever fiscal year total, the Apache has surpassed the half-a-million mark for the first time and the 400,000-units mark for the fourth time in its 21-year innings. Since launch, the Apache brand has sold nearly 7 million units including 4.38 million in the past 12 years (see data table below).
GST 2.0 rationalisation, which drove a marked fall in prices of below-350cc two-wheelers, helped accelerate Apache bike sales. While H1 FY2026 (222,048 units) saw 22% YoY growth, H2 FY2026 (223,271 units) delivered an even better 34% YoY increase.
Apache brand sales crossed half-a-million units (571,376) for the first time and contributed 40% to TVS Motor Co's record 1.41 million bikes in FY2026. The Raider 125 had a 30% model-wise share.
Along with GST 2.0, TVS Motor’s accelerated motorcycle sales were also due to the robust customer demand for the Apache series in the 150-200cc segment wherein it continues to lead the market. The Apache brand comprises four models of the Apache RTR Series – RTR 160 2V, RTR 160 4V, RTR 180 and RTR 200. The Apache is also available in the higher RTR 310 and RR 310 avatars along with the RTX 300 adventure bike.
The four Apaches – the RTR 160, RTR 165, RTR 180 and RTR 200 – each cater to a different buyer, thereby widening the target audience. Pricing (ex-showroom Mumbai) starts at Rs 111,400 for the RTR 160 2V (down from pre-GST 2.0’s Rs 120,400), rises to Rs 124,800 for the RTR 180 and Rs 148,600 for the top-end RTR 200 4V.
As it did in FY2025, the Apache remains TVS Motor Co’s best-selling motorcycle and was ahead of the next best-selling model, the Raider 125 (426,867 units, up 7% YoY). In FY2024, the Raider (478,443 units) was TVS’ No. 1 bike, ahead of the Apache (378,072 units) by 100,371 units.
The TVS Apache continued to the best-selling 150-200cc brand and its record 571,376 units gave it a 38% share in this category which crossed the 1.5 million wholesales mark for the first time in FY2026.
TVS APACHE REMAINS BEST-SELLING BIKE BRAND IN 150-200cc CATEGORY
The TVS Apache’s record sales in FY2026 energised the overall 150-200cc segment which comprises seven motorcycle manufacturers, helping this category ride into positive territory after witnessing a decline a year ago. In FY2025, this bike category had sold 1.09 million units, down 9% YoY (FY2024: 1.21 million units).
As a result of high double-digit growth from bikes produced by TVS, Bajaj Auto, Honda and Hero MotoCorp, sales crossed 1.5 million units even as three OEMs – Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawasaki – registered a sales decline.
At 571,376 units, the TVS Apache range closed FY2026 with a commanding 38% share of this segment. Bajaj Auto also had a stellar fiscal, selling 368,814 units (up 61%) comprising the Pulsar, Avenger, Dominar, Husqvarna and KTM brands. The Pulsars and KTMs have been the growth drivers for Bajaj and gave it a 24% share in this bike category, making it the new No. 2 in this bike category.
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) nearly doubled its sales YoY to 277,657 units (FY2025: 140,068 units) as a result of massive demand for the CB Unicorn 160. This sees HMSI’s segment share jump to 18% from 13% in FY2025 (140,068 units) and takes it ahead of India Yamaha Motor.
Yamaha, which was the No. 2 OEM in FY2025, has dropped two ranks to No. 4. The 228,822 units comprising the MT 15, R15 and the new XSR are down 2% YoY (FY2025: 232,528 units), which resultantly sees its segment share drop sharply to 15% from 21% in FY2025.
Hero MotoCorp, which sells the Xtreme 160R and Xpulse 200, is ranked fifth with 55,023 units, up 47% YoY (FY2025: 37,499 units) and gets a 4% segment share.
While Suzuki Motorcycle India, which has a single model – Gixxer – sold 10,307 units, down 27% YoY and India Kawasaki Motors posted sales of 365 units, down 61% YoY.
