Eicher Electric Trucks And Buses Fleet Nears 2,000 Units
Eicher electric trucks and buses have reached close to 2,000 units, while the company integrates over 20,000 charging points through its My Eicher app.
Eicher Trucks and Buses, the commercial vehicle business of VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV), said it has close to 2,000 electric trucks and buses operating across applications including tarmac, school, staff and city buses, and distribution trucks. The company disclosed on World EV Day 2026 as it outlined its approach to electric commercial mobility in India.
The company said its electric mobility strategy is focused on energy efficiency, performance and operating economics across applications where electric vehicles are suitable. It said the approach considers productivity, reliability and cost factors relevant to commercial vehicle operations.
Eicher Integrates Over 20,000 EV Charging PointsEicher Trucks and Buses has integrated more than 20,000 EV charging points into its My Eicher app through partnerships with charging point operators in India. The company said the integration is intended to provide customers with access to a wider charging network and address infrastructure requirements for electric commercial vehicles.
Eicher Uses Green Energy Across Operations
The company said nearly 26 percent of its total energy requirement in FY2024-25 was met through green sources. This was supported by a 14.2MW Group Captive Power Purchase Agreement and 7.2MW of rooftop solar capacity.
At its Pithampur operations, Eicher employees have had the option since last year to commute to work on the company's electric buses. Its Bhopal operations include zero liquid discharge, water-saving systems and a 52-million-litre rainwater-harvesting reservoir.
Eicher Expands New-Energy Commercial Vehicle Portfolio
Eicher said it has expanded its new-energy portfolio across EV, CNG and LNG technologies, while also investing in the development of hydrogen internal combustion engine (H2ICE) and hydrogen fuel cell technologies. The company also cited its early showcase of BS-VI commercial vehicles in 2019 as part of its progression towards cleaner propulsion technologies.
VECV is a joint venture between Volvo Group and Eicher Motors, with operations spanning Eicher trucks and buses, Volvo Buses in India, Volvo Trucks distribution, engine manufacturing, engineering components and Eicher Power Solutions.
