Ultraviolette F99 sets record as fastest Indian motorcycle at the Valley Run

Ultraviolette's F99 electric motorcycle has set a new benchmark by completing a standing quarter-mile in 10.712 seconds at the Valley Run, held at Aamby Valley on December 1, 2024. This achievement, certified by the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI), makes it the fastest Indian motorcycle to date, surpassing the previous record set in 2022. Ultraviolette also announced plans to attempt the record for the highest top speed by an Indian motorcycle in the coming weeks.

The F99 features several advanced engineering and design elements. It is constructed with a carbon fiber exoskeleton and incorporates a carbon fiber battery pack. The motorcycle delivers 120 horsepower (90 kW) and 972 Nm of torque at the wheel. It operates on a 400V battery architecture and includes a liquid-cooled drivetrain. The bike weighs 180 kg and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under 3 seconds and reach 200 km/h in less than 10 seconds.

The F99 represents Ultraviolette’s approach to building performance motorcycles using cutting-edge technology developed entirely in India. According to Narayan Subramaniam, Co-founder and CEO of Ultraviolette, the achievement demonstrates India's capabilities in engineering and design, shifting the perception that high-performance vehicles come primarily from global markets.

Niraj Rajmohan, Co-founder and CTO of Ultraviolette, highlighted the engineering challenges involved in creating the F99, including advancements in aerodynamics, structural engineering, battery technology, and vehicle electronics. He expressed hope that the F99 project inspires further innovation across India's technology sector.

Technological breakthroughs from the F99 have also influenced the development of Ultraviolette’s F77 Mach 2, a performance-oriented electric motorcycle available at UV Space Stations across India. Key features such as regenerative braking and fast-charging capabilities in the F77 are the result of research conducted during the F99's development.

To commemorate the milestone, Ultraviolette has introduced a limited-edition merchandise collection titled "The Fastest Indian." The collection features the F99’s record-breaking quarter-mile time and will be limited to 99 units. The items are available on the Ultraviolette website.
