TATA.ev Launches 14 Manned Charging Stations Across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana
The EV manufacturer has partnered with Voltran to establish 24/7 staffed charging hubs along major highways, bringing its nationwide network to over 70 operational sites.
TATA.ev has inaugurated 14 new MegaCharger stations across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in partnership with Voltran, marking the introduction of India's first fully manned public EV charging network. The facilities feature round-the-clock staff support and aim to replicate the convenience of traditional fuel stations.
The expansion increases TATA.ev's MegaCharger network to more than 70 sites nationally, advancing the company's Open Collaboration 2.0 initiative. TATA.ev plans to deploy over 400,000 charging points, including 500 MegaChargers, by 2027.
"The demand for accessible, widespread, and reliable charging infrastructure has become increasingly critical," said Balaje Rajan, Chief Strategy Officer at Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. "These fast-charging hubs connect major cities, enabling seamless EV travel across key locations in these states."
The new charging stations are positioned along five major highway corridors, including routes connecting Hyderabad to Bengaluru, Vijayawada, and Tirupati, as well as the Vijayawada-Chennai and Srikakulam-Vijayawada corridors. Each location offers multiple fast-charging connectors, with some facilities providing up to 360kW of charging capacity across 12 bays.
Raja Sekhar Upputuri, CEO of Voltran, highlighted that the stations accept cash, card, and UPI payments without requiring app downloads. All sites include air-conditioned lounges, restrooms, and food options.
The Madhapur location in Hyderabad, situated within 5 km of Hi-Tech City and Jubilee Hills, serves as a flagship urban facility. Highway stations are spaced at intervals ranging from 100 to 170 km, designed to enable 80% charging in 30-40 minutes at facilities offering up to 240kW.
The partnership represents TATA.ev's strategy of collaborating with Charge Point Operators to establish high-speed charging infrastructure across intercity routes and urban centers throughout India.
