Nexon Tops February Chart for 2nd Straight Month; Punch Reinforces Tata’s SUV Lead
Tata Motors places two models in the top three most sold PV list across the industry as SUVs continue to dominate India’s passenger vehicle rankings in February 2026.
Tata Motors’ Nexon retained its position as India’s highest-selling passenger vehicle model in February 2026 with 19,430 units, topping the industry charts for the second consecutive month this year.
The compact SUV’s continued leadership comes amid intense competition in the segment and reflects sustained demand across both its internal combustion and electric variants. The Nexon has consistently been one of the volume anchors for Tata Motors in recent quarters, and February’s performance reinforces its central role in the company’s portfolio.
Maruti Suzuki’s Dzire followed closely with 19,326 units, highlighting the resilience of the compact sedan segment even as SUVs dominate buyer preference. Tata Motors’ Punch secured third position at 18,748 units, ensuring that the company placed two models among the top three best-selling passenger vehicles during the month.
Hyundai’s Creta recorded 17,938 units, maintaining its presence among the leading mid-size SUVs. Maruti Suzuki’s Brezza (17,863 units) and Ertiga (17,807 units) remained close behind, underscoring strong demand in the compact SUV and MPV segments respectively.
In the hatchback category, the Wagon R (14,885 units) and Swift (14,833 units) continued to generate steady volumes, demonstrating that entry and mid-hatchbacks still account for a significant share of the market despite the broader shift towards utility vehicles.
Mahindra’s Scorpio posted 14,665 units, reflecting continued traction in the mid-size SUV segment, while the Maruti Baleno rounded off the top 10 list with 14,632 units.
February’s top-10 rankings once again underline the structural tilt of India’s passenger vehicle market towards SUVs and UVs, which accounted for the majority of the leading nameplates. Tata Motors’ dual presence at the top for the second straight month signals sustained competitive momentum in a segment that continues to drive overall industry growth.
