The all-electric Bajaj Chetak scooter, the zero-emission avatar of the iconic Chetak, has surpassed the cumulative wholesale milestone of 500,000, or half a million, units in the Indian market.
From its launch in January 2020 through the end of August 2025, as per SIAM data for the e-two-wheeler industry, the Chetak has clocked cumulative wholesales of 510,007 units.
The pace of sales has been particularly strong since FY2024, which saw total factory dispatches of 115,702 units, followed by its best-ever fiscal sales of 260,033 units in FY2025 (up 125%), and 88,916 units (up 7% YoY) in the first five months of the current FY2026.
Launched on January 14, 2020, just before the pandemic struck, Bajaj Auto’s first electric scooter has taken 68 months to hit the 500,000 mark. The Chetak hit the 100,000 sales milestone in November 2023, taking 46 months, or a little less than four years.
The next 200,000-unit sales came in just 12 months, as a result of the expanded retail network, ramped-up capacity and increased customer demand.
Of the total 510,007 Chetaks sold to date, 348,251 units have been dispatched in the past 20 months since April 2024. The last 200,000 units have been dispatched from the Bajaj factory to its dealers across India in barely 10 months.
As per SIAM data, between November 2024 and August 2025, a total of 206,366 units were sold. October 2024 (30,644 units) remains the best-ever monthly sales figure for the Chetak.
The increase in demand for the Bajaj Chetak in the past two years has been driven by a broader product portfolio. The expansion of the Chetak 35 series (named after its 3.5 kWh battery) with the new 3001 model, which is the new entry point into the Bajaj Chetak family, has helped accelerate sales by offering larger boot space, a higher range of 127 km and faster charging (0–80% in 3 hours and 50 minutes).
Pricing for the Chetak series (on-road) starts at Rs 99,900 for the 3001, Rs 110,000 for the 3503, Rs 120,000 for the 3502 and Rs 127,200 for the 3501.
