Ashok Leyland Reports 14% YoY Growth in April 2026 Domestic Vehicle Sales

Ashok Leyland reported an increase in vehicle sales for April 2026, with total domestic volumes rising 14% to 14,242 units, compared to 12,509 units in April 2025.

The growth was primarily supported by strong performance in the light commercial vehicle (LCV) segment and steady gains in medium and heavy commercial vehicle (M&HCV) trucks, even as bus sales declined during the month.

In the domestic market, M&HCV truck sales grew 15% year-on-year to 6,814 units, up from 5,915 units in April 2025. However, M&HCV bus volumes fell 22% to 1,163 units, resulting in an overall 8% increase in total M&HCV sales at 7,977 units.

The LCV segment recorded the highest growth among categories, rising 23% to 6,265 units from 5,103 units a year earlier. This contributed significantly to the overall increase in domestic volumes.

Including exports, Ashok Leyland’s total vehicle sales stood at 14,646 units in April 2026, marking a 9% increase from 13,421 units in April 2025. Growth in this category was again led by trucks and LCVs, with M&HCV truck sales increasing 15% to 7,007 units and LCV sales rising 16% to 6,344 units.

However, the bus segment continued to register a decline in combined domestic and export markets, dropping 30% year-on-year to 1,295 units. As a result, total M&HCV sales (including exports) grew at a relatively modest 4% to 8,302 units.

The company’s April performance reflects a mixed trend across segments, with volume expansion driven by goods carriers offset partially by weaker demand in the bus category.
