Oben Electric to set up 50 new showrooms and service centres in 12 Indian cities

Following its entry into the key markets of Delhi, Pune, Kochi and Trivandrum, Bengaluru-based electric bike maker sets sights on a major showroom expansion programme.

Bengaluru-based electric motorcycle OEM Oben Electric, which has outlined plans to raise US$ 20 million (Rs 166 crore) through a fresh fundraising programme, has announced an aggressive network expansion plan. While it made its foray into key markets including Delhi, Pune and Kerala, while bolstering its presence in Bengaluru, it now plans to set up 50 new showrooms and service centres in 12 major Indian cities by the end of this year.

In Delhi, Oben Electric has set up a new showrooms in Pitampuram, while the retail outlet in Pune is located in the Wakad area. In Kerala, dealership showrooms have been inaugurated in Kochi and Trivandrum, augmenting the brand's penetration in the southern region. Furthermore, prime showroom locations have recently debuted in Bengaluru, including Banashankari, Rajajinagar, and Electronic City, in addition to the existing experience centre in HSR Layout. At present, Oben Electric has eight showrooms across these key locations.

The company currently retails its sole product – the flagship electric motorcycle, Oben Rorr. The Rorr features an 8 kW IPMSM motor, accelerating from 0-40kph in 3 seconds and has a claimed top speed of 100kph and a certified range of 187km (IDC).

Commenting on the expansion prospects, Ms. Madhumita Agrawal, founder and CEO of Oben Electric, stated, “With our strategic entry into the vibrant markets of Delhi, Pune, and Kerala, alongside our continued growth in Bengaluru, we are solidifying our position as an emerging leader in India's electric vehicle industry. Our commitment to leading the EV revolution nationwide is evident as we focus on building a strong network of showrooms and service centers pan-India.”

The new showrooms have dedicated areas for immersive customer experiences. Featuring interactive spaces, customers can explore the Oben Rorr up close, accompanied by a selection of accessories and merchandise for enthusiasts. These locations, also functioning as Oben Care service centres, provide end-to-end servicing and spare parts support.

As per Vahan retail sales data, Oben Electric sold 50 electric motorcycles in CY2023. Between January 1 and May 28, 2024, the company has sold 77 Oben Rorrs.
