DYPDC’S first batch of 30 students completes course

Pune, September 20, 2013: The first batch of 30 students from the DY Patil Dilip Chhabria Center for Automotive Research & Studies (DYPDC) has successfully completed their course. The DY Patil Knowledge City campus in Pune celebrated the first convocation ceremony of DYPDC today.

A joint effort by the Ajeenkya DY Patil Group and automobile designer Dilip Chhabria, DYPDC offers full-time programmes in automobile design, digital modeling, integrated product design and business innovation and strategy.

Highlighting the initiative, Dr Ajeenkya DY Patil, chairman, Ajeenkya DY Patil Group, said, “The students of DYPDC have a huge potential to take up leading positions in the automotive industry. I congratulate all the students, their parents and the faculty for their hard work and accomplishments.”

Delivering the convocation address, Dr Naushad Forbes, director, Forbes Marshall, observed, “Education has changed the fortunes of many families with economic prosperity continuing to bring many ordinary families to the fore, out of oblivion. Having a design qualification is a privilege; it means one automatically has options and opportunities that are distinct and attractive. For a country where opportunity still relies too much on luck, it is important to make a difference. The larger challenge is to make opportunities available to all.”

Stressing the role of the automobile industry in the economic vibrancy of a country like India, Dilip Chhabria, chief mentor, DYPDC, said: “The automobile industry has played a crucial role in the growth of economies like the US and Japan. The right kind of focus could see the same happening here in India too. As is evident from the fierce competition among automobile companies in India, trying to woo the discerning Indian customer with evolving designs and features, automobile design is critical for the sustenance and growth of the automobile industry. It gives me great pleasure and satisfaction to see this first batch of students who are well prepared to lead design in the Indian automobile industry.”
