Pune, October 15, 2013: Bajaj Auto has launched another variant of its popular 100cc bike Discover called the Discover 100M for Rs 45,996 (ex-showroom Delhi).
Powered by the known four-valve DTS-i technology, the engine generates maximum power of 9.2bhp and peak torque of 0.91kgm. The company claims that the new Discover 100M provides a fuel efficiency of 84kpl.
Emphasising the strategy to boost the sales of its Discover series, K Srinivas, president, motorcycle business, said, “In the commuter segment, the competition offers basic features on the bikes as the predominant deliverable remains to be the fuel economy. However, thanks to our patented twin-spark, four-valve engines, we are able to power up the fuel efficient commuter bikes. The Discover 100M gives 9.2bhp of power and yet delivers 84km to the litre.”
Bajaj Auto offers standard features such as electric start, gas-filled nitrox suspension, petal disc brakes and others which are not usually found in all basic commuter bikes in the market. The Discover M will be offered in five colour options of red, blue and three black colour combinations.
Rajiv Bajaj, managing director, Bajaj Auto, had recently hinted that the company is working on a couple of variants of its best-selling Discover bikes and will gradually roll the models out to boost its falling sales figures.
The company reported sales of 177,032 motorcycles during September 2013, down by 2.83 percent against September 2012 sales of 182,192 units.
