Strong Demand for Electric SCVs Sees Tata Motors and Euler Motors Top e-CV Sales in April

Like the electric 2W, 3W and passenger vehicle segments, the electric commercial vehicle (e-CV) segment too delivered a strong showing in April 2026. While they are the lowest in terms of volumes but the highest in sticker price, the e-CV segment clocked their second-highest monthly retail sales in April 2026. The nearly 40 players in this category sold a total of 2,236 units, which marks 148% YoY growth (April 2025: 903 units) albeit down 8% on March 2026’s 2,445 units.

Zero-emission light goods carriers or small CVs (1,817 units, up 200% YoY) accounted for the bulk of sales – 81 percent. Demand for electric buses, which are mainly bought by state transport undertakings for inter-city operations and local municipal corporations for city transport, saw sales grow by 23% YoY to 342 units. And heavy goods carriers, typically used for infrastructure operations, rose 267% YoY to 77 units (see category-wise sales split below).

Light goods carriers or small CVs (1,817 units, up 200% YoY) accounted for the bulk of the electric commercial vehicle sales – 81% – in April 2026. All three e-CV categories registered good growth.

Of the total 2,236 e-CVs sold in India last month, market leader Tata Motors accounted for 798 units or a 36% share. Euler Motors with 518 light/small e-CVs was ranked second with a 23% share and Mahindra Last Mile Mobility, with 285 units had a 13% share. Switch Mobility, Ashok Leyland’s EV arm, sold 144 buses and light CVs for a 6% share of the e-CV industry’s sales in April 2026. PMI Electro Mobility (111 units) and the Murugappa Group’s Tivolt Electric Vehicles (81 units) were ranked fifth and sixth, respectively.

While e-CV market leader Tata Motors was also the No. 1 in e-SCV retails in April, Euler Motors has positioned itself as the strong No. 2 player, ahead of Mahindra Last Mile Mobility.

Plenty Of Action In Small E-CV Segment: Tata Tops, MLMM, Euler And Tivolt Post Strong Growth

Sales of light / small e-CVs continued to grow at a rapid pace in April and the e-SCV category remains the growth driver of the overall e-CV segment. This category (1,817 units) commanded an 81% share of April e-CV sales led by market leader Tata Motors which sold 792 e-SCVs, up 206% YoY (April 2025: 259 units). Tata Motors’ e-SCV lineup comprises the Ace Pro EV, Ace EV, Ace EV 1000 and the recently launched Intra EV Pickup, each engineered to meet diverse urban and semi-urban cargo requirements and available with multiple load deck configurations and payload options to drive flexibility for varied business applications.

On April 7, Tata Motors launched the Intra EV Pickup at Rs 11.95 lakh (ex-showroom) targeted at entrepreneurs and fleet owners with a sharp focus on productivity and profitability. The Intra EV Pickup, which has a 72kW electric motor producing 230 Nm of peak torque, has a certified range of 211km on a single charge. With a 1750 kg payload and long load body options of up to 10 feet 2 inches, this new e-SCV supports various applications— from FMCG and e‑commerce to cold-chain, waste management, LPG and dairy distribution — enabling higher load per trip and better asset utilisation. But there’s new competition coming up for Tata Motors.

The Hero MotoCorp-backed Euler Motors sold 518 units in April 2026, up 1263% on a low year-ago base (April 2025: 38 units) which gives it a 28% e-SCV market share for the month. That’s not all – the 518 units are Euler’s highest monthly retails yet, beating the previous best (March 2026: 462 units). In CY2025, its first full year of operation, Euler had sold 1,058 units. After CY2026’s first four months, total retails are already 1,611 units. In line with this growth, the company, which current produces around 500 units a month, plans to expand its four-wheeler capacity to 1,000 e-CVs a month. Euler Motors’ portfolio comprises the Storm EV launched in 2024, the Storm EVT1500 and the Turbo EV1000.

Mahindra Last Mile Mobility sold 285 e-SCVs (Mahindra Zeo) last month, up 70% YoY (April 2025: 168 units) which gives MLMM a 16% market share. The Zeo mini-truck, which has a 160km range on a single charge, has a 3-year or 125,000km vehicle warranty and a 7-year or 150,000km battery warranty supported by a service network of 300-plus dealers and 850 touch-points.

Switch Mobility Automotive is ranked third with sales of 82 units last month, up 134% YoY (April 2025: 35 units). Switch Mobility’s LEV3 and LEV4 small trucks, which sport a spacious cargo body extending up to 9.7 feet and capable of holding up to 340 cubic feet of containers, continue to see demand from various industries.

The Murugappa Group’s Tivolt Electric Vehicles, which markets the Montra brand of e-CVs, is another company which is witnessing speedy growth. In April, the company sold 81 units, up 710% YoY on a low year-ago base of just 10 units. On April 24, the company launched two new variants of its Eviator e-SCV range: the Eviator 350 (32 kWh, Rs 14.58 lakh) and Eviator 350L+ (50 kWh, Rs 16.86 lakh). While the Eviator 350, which has a claimed real-world range of up to 140km per charge, is targeted at urban last-mile delivery operators, the Eviator 350L+ (certified range of 300km) targets intercity and high-demand applications such as refrigerated transport and municipal services. The existing Montra 40kWh model remains in the lineup, giving fleet operators three battery configurations to choose from within the same vehicle platform.

Sales Of E-SCVs Could Surpass 20,000 Units In CY2026

Demand for small electric goods / cargo carriers (e-SCVs) has grown rapidly in the past two years. From 6,014 units in CY2024, retail sales jumped 79% YoY to 10,772 units in CY2025. In the January-April 2026 period, e-SCV OEMs have already delivered 6,498 units which marks a handsome 184% YoY increase (January-April 2025: 2,284 e-SCVs/light goods carriers) and are already 60% of CY2025’s record retails. If the same growth trend continues in the coming months, this segment of the e-CV industry could be headed for record annual sales of over 20,000 units.

Sales of light goods carriers are driven by the burgeoning demand for cargo deliveries catered to by the hub-and-spoke model in urban India from various industries including e-commerce, white goods, FMCG, parcel and courier and organised retail. An added factor is growing number of new models in the market and as well as being the eco-friendly option for intra-city and inter-city operations. Given the current global crude oil supply crisis, demand for this vehicle category can only rise further as diesel e-SCV buyers shift to zero-emission vehicles.
