Toyota Rumion Crosses 50,000 Sales in 32 Months Since Launch
Since its launch in August 2023, the Maruti Ertiga-based Rumion people-mover has made its presence felt in the affordable MPV market in India.
The Toyota Rumion MPV, launched on August 10, 2023, has driven past the 50,000 wholesales milestone in the domestic market. From launch till end-March 2026, the MPV has registered cumulative sales of 52,271 units (see data table below).
The Rumion is among Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s (TKM) successful products in the past three years. Since its launch, the sensible, no-nonsense Maruti Ertiga-based people-mover, which is among the four rebadged Maruti Suzuki models in TKM’s portfolio, has made its presence felt in the affordable MPV market in India. It helps that the Rumion is also the most affordable Toyota MPV in India with prices starting from Rs 955,000 (ex-showroom) for the 1.5 Petrol E variant through to Rs 13.96 lakh for the top-end Petrol V AT variant.
In FY2026, the Rumion (24,420 units) clocked its highest wholesales to date and was the fifth best-selling MPV in India after the Maruti Ertiga, Toyota Innova, Kia Carens and Maruti XL6.
As the sales data for the past 32 months reveals, the Rumion sold 5,973 units in the last eight months of FY2024, accounting for 2% of the 245,676 passenger vehicles Toyota Kirloskar Motor sold. In FY2025, the 21,878 units were a 266% YoY increase and contributed 7% to TKM’s 309,230 PV sales. In FY2026, the 24,420 Rumions comprised a similar 7% of TKM's record 366,896 passenger vehicle dispatches. In FY2026, the Rumion was the fifth best-selling MPV in India after the Maruti Ertiga (198,327 units), sibling Toyota Innova Hycross / Crysta (112,163 units), Kia Carens (79,202 units) and Maruti XL6 (37,159 units).
The Rumion, TKM’s most affordable MPV, has a claimed mileage of 20.11kpl for the petrol-MT and 20.51kpl for the petrol-AT. The CNG variant returns a claimed mileage of 26.11km/kg.
No-Nonsense People Mover With the Toyota Badge
The Maruti Ertiga-based Rumion is the fourth badge-engineered model shared between TKM and Maruti Suzuki India, after the Glanza hatchback (based on the Baleno), Urban Cruiser Hyryder (based on the Grand Vitara) and the Urban Cruiser Taisor compact SUV (based on the Fronx). The Toyota-Suzuki partnership has also resulted in Maruti Suzuki borrowing Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s Innova Hycross to develop the Maruti Invicto MPV.
The Toyota badge commands significant value in the Indian market, which buys into the brand's core ethics of high quality and durability over long-term usage. That a Toyota seldom disappoints, is cheaper to maintain over its competitors and also offers robust resale value, are reasons enough for buyers to be drawn towards the company's latest offerings, despite four of them being badge-engineered Suzuki versions.
In the case of the MPV segment, durability and reliability are the key customer demands that the Rumion fulfils adequately, just like Toyota's other people-movers like the Qualis of yesteryear and the Innova, which have established the carmaker's high-on-quality image in the Indian market.
Compared to the Ertiga, the Rumion sees very few styling changes to its plastic parts. It gets an all-new bumper with revised fog lamp surrounds, an Innova Crysta-like grille and dual-tone alloy wheels. On the inside, it gets a blacked-out dashboard with wood-like inserts, and the upholstery, similar to the Ertiga, is finished in beige.
The equipment list and 7-seat configuration, too, has been carried over from the Ertiga. As standard safety kit, all variants come with six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), hill hold assist, TPMS, ISOFIX child seat mounts (second row), seatbelt reminder (all seats), rear parking sensor and a rear camera.

Petrol and CNG Power
Under the hood, the Toyota Rumion uses the same Maruti Suzuki 1.5-litre petrol engine that develops maximum power of 103hp and 137 Nm of torque, mated to a five-speed manual or a six-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The Rumion is also offered with a factory-fitted CNG kit that produces 88hp and 121.5 Nm in CNG mode, and comes with only a manual transmission. Toyota claims the petrol version has a fuel efficiency of 20.51kpl, while the CNG version returns 26.11km/kg.
The eight-variant Rumion is the smallest and most affordable Toyota MPV in India with prices starting from Rs 955,000 for the 1.5 Petrol E. At this price point, it rivals its own siblings, the Maruti Ertiga and the XL6, as well as the Kia Carens and Carens Clavis.
This Toyota MPV has a claimed mileage of 20.11kpl for the petrol-MT and 20.51kpl for the petrol-AT. The CNG variant returns a claimed mileage of 26.11km/kg.

Rumion Helps Rebadged Share of TKM Sales to Hit New High in FY2026
FY2026 saw Toyota Kirloskar Motor continue the strong trajectory of growth it has displayed since the past three years. Sustained demand for Toyota-made MPVs and SUVs as also the clutch of rebadged models along with ramped-up production and customer-friendly initiatives are paying dividends in the competitive marketplace.
In FY2026, sales of the four badge-engineered models crossed the 200,000-unit mark for the first time. The 211,759 units are a strong 30% YoY increase (FY2025: 163,483 units) and translate into a 58% share of TKM’s record passenger vehicle wholesales of 366,896 units.
In the past three fiscals, wholesales of these four models have nearly doubled from 107,151 units in FY2024 to 211,759 units in FY2026. Interestingly, in FY2026, all 10 models in TKM’s PV portfolio which, other than the above four rebadged models, includes the Innova twins, Fortuner, Camry, Vellfire, LandCruiser 300 and Hilux posted YoY growth.
The Hyryder midsize SUV, which clocked its highest sales in FY2026, continued to be TKM’s No. 1 rebadged model for the third straight fiscal. The 99,883 units gave it a 47% share of this four-model portfolio, improving upon the 37% it had in FY2025 (60,388 units) or the 45% in FY2024 (49,916 units). The Hyryder’s stellar performance is reflected in the fact that it was a close second behind TKM’s longstanding best-seller, the Innova (112,163 units) and even outsold the Innova twins in October 2025, February and March 2026. Since its launch in September 2022, the Hyryder has clocked cumulative sales of over 230,000 units.
The Glanza hatchback takes second position with 52,543 units, up 8% YoY (FY2025: 48,839 units) and a 25% share of the rebadged models’ sales. The Glanza, launched three years before the Hryder n June 2019, has cumulatively sold an estimated 262,000 units till end-March 2026. While the Urban Cruiser Taisor compact SUV (34,913 units) registered an 8% YoY increase, demand for the Rumion MPV (24,420 units) rose 12% YoY.
