Maruti Suzuki Dispatches 870 e-Vitara SUVs in February, Retails 222 Units
Maruti Suzuki’s first EV sold 870 units wholesale, ranking seventh in its UV lineup. With 222 retail sales, the e-Vitara held a 1.52% share of India’s 14,553 monthly EV sales.
Maruti Suzuki, which recently launched its first EV in the form of the e-Vitara SUV and commenced deliveries from February 17, dispatched 870 units to its showrooms in February 2026. As per the company’s monthly wholesales data released for last month, a total of 72,756 utility vehicles (UVs) were dispatched from its factories to showrooms, up 12% YoY (February 2025: 65,033 units).
The e-Vitara, with 870 units, accounted for a 1% share of the company’s UV dispatches and was ranked No. 7 from the nine UVs that Maruti Suzuki currently sells in the domestic market. As per Vahan retail sales data, the company delivered 222 units of the e-Vitara to customers in February. This gave the e-Vitara a 1.52% share of the 14,553 electric cars, SUVs and MPVs delivered to buyers last month.
As Maruti Suzuki’s UV wholesales data table for February 2026 (below) reveals, the Brezza compact SUV topped the company’s dispatches with 17,863 units. The other five UVs ahead of the e-Vitara are the Ertiga (17,807 units), Fronx (13,898 units), Victoris (13,021 units), Grand Vitara (4,989 units) and XL6 (3,633 units).
Maruti Suzuki dispatched 18,880 midsize SUVs (Victoris, Grand Vitara and e-Vitara) in February, which gives them a 26% share of the total UV dispatches of 72,756 units.
The growing demand for midsize SUVs has seen Maruti Suzuki launch the Victoris (from the Arena channel) and e-Vitara from Nexa, which join the Grand Vitara. This movement is also reflected in the factory dispatches (wholesales). In February 2026, these three midsize SUVs (18,880 units) accounted for 26% of the company’s UV sales, up from the 16% in February 2025. Meanwhile, compact SUV (Brezza, Fronx, Jimny) wholesales at 32,392 units contributed 44% (down from the 57% share a year ago) and the three MPVs (Ertiga, XL6, Invicto) had a 30% share versus 26% in February 2025.
The Maruti e-Vitara is the manufacturer’s sole all-electric offering in India and rivals popular midsize e-SUVs like the Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6 and Tata Curvv EV. The Maruti EV shares its platform, including its electric powertrain, with the Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella.
The e-Vitara is available in three variants comprising Delta 49 kWh (543km range), Zeta 61 kWh, Alpha 61 kWh (440km range). While the smaller battery is mated with a 144hp electric motor, the larger 61 kWh battery pack is paired with a 174hp motor. In India, the e-Vitara is offered with only a front-wheel-drive (FWD) setup, although it gets an all-wheel-drive AWD option in overseas markets where it is exported.
Priced from Rs 15.99 lakh to Rs 19.79 lakh, the e-Vitara is available with a battery subscription scheme. This plan essentially allows buyers to purchase the whole car except the battery pack, which is offered on a monthly subscription of Rs 3.99 and Rs 4.39 per km, for the 49 kWh and 61 kWh battery pack options, respectively. This scheme lowers the e-Vitara’s price to Rs 10.99 lakh for the base-spec Delta 49 kWh, Rs 11.99 lakh for the mid-spec Zeta variant and Rs 14.29 lakh for the fully loaded Alpha 61 kWh, excluding the battery subscription fee.
Maruti is offering a complimentary 7.4kW AC home charger for the e-Vitara. Moreover, free charging until 1,000kW or one year (whichever is earlier) is being offered at Maruti Suzuki dealerships for customers who buy the e-SUV by March 31, 2026. There is an 8-year or 160,000km warranty on both the battery pack options (whichever is earlier), and a 3-year standard vehicle on the vehicle, which can be extended up to 8 years upon payment of an additional fee.
With the ongoing global geopolitical crisis which has impacted supply of critical crude oil to India, there is growing consumer interest in EVs across vehicle segments. This should also benefit Maruti Suzuki and the e-Vitara, which is also witnessing strong exports, in the coming months and FY2027.
