Maruti Fronx races past 100,000 sales in 10 months since launch

Maruti Suzuki India's Fronx SUV, sold from its premium Nexa channel, has become India’s fastest passenger vehicle to achieve the 100,000-unit sales milestone.

Unveiled globally at the Auto Expo 2023 and launched on April 24, 2023, the Fronx has achieved the big number in just 10 months since its launch. From April-December 2023, the Fronx had sold a total of 94,393 units, which means the remaining 5,607 units have been sold in the first three weeks of January 2024.

What is creditable is that within just nine months of its launch, the SUV averaged monthly wholesales of 10,488 units. This meant that the Maruti Fronx was part of India’s Top 25 utility vehicles listing, ranking 11th in a very competitive segment, with its sibling Maruti Brezza winning the best-selling UV title of CY2023.

Between April and December 2023, the Fronx averaged monthly wholesales of 10,488 units. It has surpassed 100,000 sales in the fourth week of January.

Commenting on the 100,000th milestone, Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki India said, “The Fronx was strategically added to our portfolio to address the growing demand for another compact SUV that blends distinctive design with a captivating driving experience. Achieving 100,000 sales in just 10 months demonstrates the exceptional connection the Fronx has found with our customers. The Fronx has been instrumental in more than doubling Maruti Suzuki's SUV segment share to 19.7% in CY2023 from 10.4% in 2022.”

“Offering a complete package of modern design, a tech-loaded premium persona, and multiple powertrain options, the Fronx has also gained immense popularity amongst buyers who want to stand out with their unique choices,” he added.

The automatic variants of the Fronx contributed to 24% of total sales, which indicates a growing consumer shift towards clutch-less transmission options. The Fronx has also seen considerable demand for the 1.0-litre turbo Boosterjet engine from those seeking a spirited driving experience. Additionally, the recently introduced S-CNG variant caters to the needs of those looking for a fuel-efficient and eco-friendly SUV, offering a best-in-class fuel-efficiency of 28.51 km/kg.

In July 2023, Maruti Suzuki kicked off exports of the Fronx to Latin America, the Middle East, and South-East Asian markets. Thus far, the company has exported over 9000 units of the Fronx.
