Honda Sells 2,389 E-Scooters in H1 CY2026, Suzuki E-Access Hits Highest Sales in June

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, which has begun to register month-on-month growth in EVs, delivered over 800 Activa-e and QC1s for the first time in June to lead the trio of Japanese electric scooter makers in the first-half of this year, even as Suzuki clocked its highest monthly retails of 523 e-Access scooters.

Honda Sells 2,389 E-Scooters in H1 CY2026, Suzuki E-Access Hits Highest Sales in June

June 2026, which delivered the second-highest monthly retail sales (196,827 units) for the Indian electric 2-wheeler industry was also the month when combined sales for the three legacy-and-EV Japanese OEMs – Honda, Suzuki and Yamaha – were at their highest. As per the Vahan portal, this trio sold a total of 1,469 e-scooters, which gives them a 0.74% share of the e-2W market last month.

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI), the ICE scooter market leader and the first of the three Japanese two-wheeler OEMs in India to enter the EV segment in early CY2025, registered its highest retail sales (customer deliveries) in June. HMSI customers took delivery of 810 units of the Activa-e and QC1 last month, which marks a 78% YoY increase (June 2025: 454 units).

This is the first time that HMSI has retailed over 800 units in a single month, beating its previous best of 525 units in May 2026 (see data table below). In the process, cumulative retail sales of the two Honda e-scooters have surpassed the 6,000-unit mark and stand at 6,254 units at the end of June 2026. Model-wise, the QC1 is witnessing more demand than the Activa-e.

Though Suzuki (1,167 units) was ahead of Honda (1,054 units) by 113 units in January-April, HMSI has outsold the e-Access in both May and June to get a 347-units lead in first-half CY2026.

While the Activa-e, which is equivalent to a 110cc ICE scooter, comes with two Honda Mobile Power Pack swappable batteries as its power source and is meant primarily for personal commuting, the Honda QC1 (equipped with a fixed battery) is targeted at gig-worker operations and is more of an affordable urban runabout.

The Activa-e, which looks far more stylish than its hugely popular ICE sibling which is India’s longstanding best-selling scooter, has two variants: standard (Rs 120,133, ex-showroom) and RoadSync Duo (Rs 152,000). It has a 102km claimed IDC range, does the 0-60kph sprint in 7.3 seconds, and reaches a top speed of 80kph. The QC1, Honda’s more budget-friendly EV and essentially an eco-friendly urban runabout, has a claimed top speed of 50kph, does the 0-40kph sprint in 9.7 seconds, and delivers a claimed IDC range of 80km. Priced at Rs 90,708 (ex-showroom), the Honda QC1 is the most affordable Japanese electric scooter in India.

Honda, which has sold 2,389 e-scooters between January and June 2026, has a slender lead of 347 units over Suzuki which has delivered 2,042 units of its e-Access in first-half CY2026.

Honda Leads Suzuki by 347 Units After First Six Months of CY2026
The battle between Honda and Suzuki on the EV turf continues to be intense. In the first four months of CY2026, Suzuki had outsold Honda but the manufacturer of the Activa-e and QC1 has turned the tables on its Japanese cousin with stronger numbers in May-June (1,335 units) versus Suzuki’s 875 which includes best-yet monthly retails of 523 e-Access EVs in June.

As a result, in first-half CY2026, Honda with 2,389 units (up 68% YoY: H1 CY2025: 1,419 units) currently has a 347-unit lead over Suzuki (2,042 units) which plugged into the Indian e-2W market this January.

What is creditable about Suzuki India’s e-2W market performance is that the e-Access is one of the most expensive e-scooters on sale, particularly when compared to the two Honda EVs. At Rs 188,490 (ex-showroom) and up to Rs 200,700 (on-road), the Suzuki e-Access costs substantially more than the TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak, the top two best-selling e-2Ws in India.

However, despite bearing a stiff price, the Suzuki e-Access is witnessing growing demand as a no-nonsense and practical offering that comes from a Japanese brand renowned for its reliability. Targeted at urban commuters, this zero-emission avatar of Suzuki’s best-selling scooter in India (Access 125) is pitched as a durable and reliable mobility solution for both city riding as well as short weekend rides. The e-Access, which has a range of up to 95km, comes with keyless functionality for ignition, boot release and charging port access, a feature that is still not available in most e-scooters in its segment.

Meanwhile, Yamaha, the third Japanese OEM, which entered the India EV market in March 2026, sold 136 units of the EC-02 in June to take its cumulative sales to 418 units. Combined six-month sales of Honda, Suzuki and Yamaha at 4,849 units give these three Japanese e-2W OEMs a minuscule 0.49% share of the 971,023 electric scooters, motorcycles and mopeds retailed in the first six months of CY2026.
