Chevrolet introduces new Cruze hatchback to China
The Cruze hatchback variant is the latest member of Chevrolet’s best-selling passenger car brand in China and worldwide.
A hatchback variant of the all-new Chevrolet Cruze will go on sale in China next month, joining other global markets that have also recently introduced the vehicle. It is the latest member of Chevrolet’s best-selling passenger car brand in China and worldwide.
The Cruze has been a key member of Chevrolet’s line-up in China since it first went on sale in 2009. Last year, 208,718 Cruzes were sold in China.
The all-new Cruze hatchback features a unique roof and rear-end structure – including wraparound taillamps and an integrated spoiler at the top of the liftgate. It offers 699 litres of cargo space behind the rear seat. With the rear seat folded, cargo space expands to 1,336 litres.
It is built on GM's most advanced global midsize car platform, with a wheelbase that has been extended to 2,700mm for added roominess. GM says the all-new Cruze hatback has a newly tuned chassis with outstanding handling.
The new model maintains the Cruze sedan's powertrain combinations. It adopts a 1.4T top-mounted SIDI engine as well as a 1.5L top-mounted SIDI engine. The powerplants are paired with a choice of an intelligent seven-speed dual clutch gearbox (DCG) transmission with the start/stop function, an all-new six-speed Dynamic Start/Stop Shift (DSS) transmission or a six-speed manual transmission. The Cruze delivers efficient output and combined fuel economy of 5.7 litres/100km.
Chevrolet's new-generation MyLink intelligent infotainment system and OnStar's new-generation Smart Driver, as well as 4G LTE in-car Wi-Fi, combine to form the intelligent ‘nerve centre’ of the vehicle. The technology monitors vehicle conditions for ultimate safety while enabling occupants to maintain real-time connectivity with the outside world.
GM announced last October that Chevrolet will introduce more than 20 new or refreshed products in China by the end of 2020.
