Toyota Kirloskar Motor Partners with Maharashtra to Strengthen ITI Network

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has formalized a partnership with the Government of Maharashtra to develop a comprehensive skilling ecosystem across Industrial Training Institutes in the state. The initiative represents a strategic alignment between industrial growth and workforce development.

The collaboration will unfold through a phased implementation strategy. The first phase, scheduled for 2025-26, will concentrate on 16 ITIs in the Marathwada and Nagpur divisions. Subsequent expansion will cover Amravati and Nashik divisions between 2026-28, followed by Mumbai and Pune divisions from 2029-30.

The program draws from Toyota Kirloskar Motor's experience in Karnataka, where the company has partnered with over 100 institutes and trained more than 20,000 students. The Maharashtra initiative will prioritize faculty development through Train-the-Trainer programs, knowledge enhancement sessions, and skill-building workshops at Toyota's Bidadi facility.

Technical components include the provision of Fundamental Skill Training kits, dexterity modules, visual learning boards, and standardized content. The program will also incorporate Toyota's 5S methodology and safety protocols, alongside classes on workplace discipline and ethics.

Shri Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Minister for Skill, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Government of Maharashtra, stated that the initiative would empower youth with industry-relevant skills to enhance their technical proficiency and career prospects.

Mr. Vikram Gulati, Country Head and Executive Vice President, Corporate Affairs & Governance at Toyota Kirloskar Motor, emphasized the company's commitment to rural youth development and its alignment with India's vision for 2047. He described the collaboration as an expression of the company's community-focused approach.

The partnership complements the Government of India's Skill India Mission by integrating global manufacturing expertise into the ITI framework. Regular audits, continuous feedback mechanisms, and stakeholder involvement will ensure program sustainability and effectiveness.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor operates with approximately 6,000 employees across 432 acres in Bidadi, Karnataka, with a total installed production capacity of up to 342,000 units annually across two plants.
