BMW Motorrad to Launch All-new 450cc Twin-cylinder Bike in the First Half of 2026
New mid-capacity platform to anchor double-digit growth push for Motorrad.
BMW Group India plans to launch its much-awaited all-new 450cc twin-cylinder motorcycle in the first half of 2026, as it looks to renew its attempt to make the luxury bikes more accessible to growing ranks of aspiring two-wheeler buyers after a modest attempt with the 310 cc bike.
The 450 cc bike, along with new 1-litre motorcycles, will help the company sustain double-digit growth for its Motorrad business in India. “The 450cc twin-cylinder will come during the course of the year, in the first half,” said Hardeep Singh Brar, President and CEO, BMW Group India.
The new platform is expected to play a key role in strengthening BMW Motorrad’s presence in the mid-capacity premium motorcycle segment, which offers relatively better scale than large-capacity superbikes in the Indian market.
The company sold around 5,800 motorcycles in India in calendar year 2025, posting double-digit growth. “The double digit is a bare minimum now for us,” Brar said, adding “We are not chasing volumes. We want to sell whatever we are selling to be profitable,” he said.
He said that the demand for premium motorcycles in India remains largely driven by experienced urban riders, with limited traction for top-end superbikes. It is the company’s endeavour to build the category at the luxury end of the market with more models and community building through a series of ride initiatives.
The company said that while the 310 cc bike and CE range of EVs were seen as overpriced by some, it does not intend to discount or de-content the luxury quotient and would aim to offer the top-notch vehicle and performance.
Despite structural challenges in the segment, BMW Motorrad continues to hold a leadership position in India’s core premium motorcycle category. The company said upcoming launches would be central to sustaining momentum while reinforcing its long-term brand positioning in the Indian market.
