Ather Energy Rolls Out Infinite Cruise Feature on 450X Models
The electric scooter manufacturer introduces adaptive cruise control designed for Indian urban riding conditions, with over-the-air updates enabling the feature for existing 2025 model owners.
Ather Energy has announced the introduction of Infinite Cruise on its 450X electric scooters, marking an expansion of software-enabled features across its product range. The feature, which was initially launched on the Ather Apex 450 in August 2025, is being deployed through over-the-air updates and will be available as a standard feature on the model.
The company has positioned Infinite Cruise as a departure from conventional cruise control systems, which are typically designed for highway speeds. The system has been engineered specifically for urban riding conditions in India, where scooters frequently operate below 30 kilometers per hour and navigate dense traffic, uneven road surfaces, and variable speed requirements.
Unlike traditional cruise control that disengages when riders brake or accelerate, Infinite Cruise maintains persistent activation and dynamically adapts to rider inputs by recalibrating to new speeds without requiring repeated engagement. This design aims to reduce throttle intervention and minimize riding fatigue during stop-and-go traffic conditions.
The system operates across a speed range of 10 to 90 kilometers per hour and integrates three distinct functions. CityCruise adapts to changing speeds in traffic conditions. Hill Control maintains consistent speeds on inclines and descents by compensating for load changes and utilizing regenerative braking through the company's Magic Braking Algorithm. Crawl Control enables stable low-speed cruising on rough or uneven surfaces, supported by Multimode Traction Control for enhanced grip on wet or slippery roads.
Ather Energy has indicated that the feature will be rolled out to approximately 44,000 Ather 450X customers who purchased their scooters from January 1, 2025 onwards. The company attributes this backward compatibility to its long-term product planning approach and hardware decisions made during the development of the 2025 450 series.
The implementation of Infinite Cruise represents part of Ather's strategy to position its scooters as evolving products, with software updates playing a central role in extending vehicle capabilities over time. The feature is being combined with Multimode Traction Control and Magic Twist as part of the overall riding experience on the 450 platform.
The Ather 450X is currently priced starting at 147,998 rupees, ex-showroom in Bangalore.
Founded in 2013 by Tarun Mehta and Swapnil Jain, Ather Energy operates in the Indian electric two-wheeler market with two product lines: the performance-oriented 450 series and the family-focused Rizta line launched in 2024. The company established the Ather Grid, India's first dedicated two-wheeler fast charging network. As of September 30, 2025, the company operates 4,322 charging points globally, with 4,282 located across India and 40 in Nepal and Sri Lanka.
