Volkswagen to Launch Iconic Golf GTI in India for First Time

Volkswagen India has announced the introduction of its legendary Golf GTI to the Indian market for the first time, with pre-bookings opening on May 5, 2025. The latest generation Golf GTI Mk 8.5 will be available as a fully built unit (FBU) through a limited allocation.

The Golf GTI features 265 PS of power and 370 Nm of torque, allowing it to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds. Pre-bookings will be available exclusively through Volkswagen India's official website for a limited duration.

"The Golf GTI is revered as one of the most iconic cars globally, and we are truly proud to offer customers in India the opportunity to own a piece of Volkswagen's performance legacy," said Ashish Gupta, Brand Director, Volkswagen India.

Deliveries of the vehicle are expected to begin in June 2025 through selected Volkswagen dealerships across India. The company has recommended early pre-bookings due to limited availability.

The Golf GTI has built a strong reputation worldwide for blending everyday usability with high-performance driving dynamics. It represents an important addition to Volkswagen's existing Indian lineup, which currently includes the Taigun, Virtus, and Tiguan R-Line models.

Volkswagen delivered approximately 4.8 million vehicles globally in 2024, including around 394,000 all-electric models. The company currently employs approximately 170,000 people worldwide and operates manufacturing facilities at 28 locations across 12 countries.

The introduction of the Golf GTI aligns with Volkswagen's ACCELERATE strategy, through which the company aims to become a leading brand for sustainable mobility while maintaining its performance heritage.
