Volkswagen India has announced the upcoming introduction of the Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line and the Golf GTI to the Indian market in early Q2 2025. The company stated that these models aim to expand its product portfolio while maintaining its focus on performance, driving dynamics, build quality, and safety.

Volkswagen India’s Brand Director, Ashish Gupta, highlighted that the made-in-India Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus have upheld the brand’s global standards in the domestic market. The addition of the Tiguan R-Line and Golf GTI is expected to further strengthen the company’s presence in India, catering to customers looking for aspirational and performance-oriented vehicles.

The company also reported a 3% year-to-date growth in sales volumes as of February 2025 compared to the previous year. Volkswagen India reaffirmed its focus on delivering German-engineered vehicles designed for safety and driving engagement in the Indian market.

The Tiguan R-Line is a sportier variant of Volkswagen’s premium SUV, featuring an R-Line styling package, enhanced aerodynamics, and a more dynamic driving experience. It is expected to come with a 2.0L TSI petrol engine, paired with a DSG automatic transmission and Volkswagen’s 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system.

The Golf GTI, a globally recognized hot hatch, is expected to offer a 2.0L turbocharged petrol engine, producing around 241 hp, and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Known for its precise handling and driver-focused performance, the Golf GTI is a performance-oriented model aimed at driving enthusiasts.

Volkswagen India is a subsidiary of the German automotive manufacturer Volkswagen AG. Operating in the Indian market since 2007, the company has focused on offering a range of vehicles known for their build quality, safety features, and driving dynamics. The brand’s product lineup includes sedans, SUVs, and performance-oriented models, catering to a diverse customer base.

The company manufactures and assembles vehicles at its plant in Chakan, Pune, which serves both domestic and export markets. Volkswagen India has introduced several models tailored to local preferences, including the Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus, developed under the India-specific MQB A0-IN platform. These models are part of the brand’s strategy to offer localized products while maintaining global quality standards.

Volkswagen India has expanded its presence through a network of dealerships and service centers across the country. The company has emphasized safety, with its vehicles consistently achieving high safety ratings in crash tests. It also integrates advanced technology in its cars, including digital displays, connected car features, and driver assistance systems.
