Terra Charge and AAI Launch EV Charging Station at Agartala Airport
The new charging station at MBB Airport in Tripura supports the state's EV policy, enhances charging accessibility, and is part of a broader nationwide collaboration between Terra Charge and AAI.
Terra Charge, a charging point operator (CPO) and original equipment manufacturer (OEM), has inaugurated an electric vehicle (EV) charging station at Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport in Agartala, Tripura. This initiative is in partnership with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and aims to improve EV infrastructure in the Northeast region. The launch event was attended by key officials including Tripura Transport Department Secretary CK Jamatia and Airport Director KC Mina.
The station, located near the VIP car parking area, is equipped with 7.4 kW and 10 kW Japanese technology-enabled chargers. It is designed to cater to the increasing demand for reliable charging solutions and forms part of a long-term strategy by Terra Charge and AAI to develop EV charging infrastructure at major airports across India.
Tripura recently became the 15th state in the country, and the third in the Northeast, to implement an electric vehicle policy. The availability of charging facilities at MBB Airport is expected to support this policy by providing practical infrastructure for EV users.
Go Suzuki, Managing Director of Terra Charge, noted that installing EV chargers at airport locations helps remove one of the barriers to EV adoption by offering convenience for users in transit. He also highlighted the ongoing collaboration with AAI as a step toward expanding India’s EV ecosystem.
Users can access the new charging facility through the Terra Charge Mobile App, which allows for location tracking, digital payments, and contactless session initiation.
Terra Charge has previously installed charging stations at airports in Bhopal and Ranchi. Additional stations are being set up in Srinagar and Imphal, further contributing to the company’s plan to expand its charging network at strategic transportation points across India.
Terra Charge is a subsidiary of Terra Motors Corporation, known in India for its electric three-wheelers and L5-category vehicles targeting the mass market.
