Sterling Tools Partners with MINIEYE for ADAS Solutions in India
Indian automotive components manufacturer joins forces with Chinese technology firm to adapt driver safety systems for local market conditions.
Sterling Tools Limited has announced a strategic partnership with MINIEYE, a Hong Kong-listed intelligent driving solutions provider, to deploy Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and Driver Monitoring Systems (DMS) tailored for the Indian automotive market.
The collaboration will focus on adapting MINIEYE's safety technologies to Indian driving environments, including mixed traffic conditions, road scenarios, and driving patterns. Sterling Tools will handle perception tuning and on-ground industry engagement to ensure the systems function effectively in local conditions.
The partnership spans both commercial and passenger vehicle segments and addresses India's upcoming regulatory requirements. From January 1, 2027, new vehicle models in India will be required to have mandatory ADAS and Driver Drowsiness and Attention Warning Systems (DDAWS) fitment.
Systems covered under the collaboration include Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Departure Warning Systems (LDWS), DDAWS, and Blind Spot Monitoring, among others.
Anish Agarwal, Director at Sterling Tools Limited, emphasized the growing importance of road safety and regulatory compliance across vehicle segments. The company aims to support original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) with safety-critical technologies aligned with regulatory requirements.
MINIEYE brings international experience to the partnership, with solutions compliant with EU General Safety Regulation requirements and Automotive SPICE V4.0 CL3 certification. The company's systems are currently deployed across Europe, the UK, Australia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and South America.
Dr. Liu Guoqing, Founder and Chairman of MINIEYE, described the partnership as an important step in bringing intelligent driving technology to India, utilizing Sterling Tools' local expertise for production-ready applications.
Sterling Tools, incorporated in 1979, manufactures automotive fasteners and has been expanding its portfolio into next-generation automotive technologies. The company's subsidiaries include Sterling E-Mobility Solutions Limited, which focuses on EV powertrain and power electronics solutions, and Sterling Tech-Mobility Ltd., which operates in electric vehicle components.
MINIEYE, founded in 2014 and listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange under stock code 2431.HK, specializes in intelligent driving and cabin solutions in China.
The partnership reflects the Indian automotive sector's transition toward enhanced safety standards, with OEMs increasingly seeking systems engineered for local traffic behavior and road complexity while maintaining regulatory compliance.
