Oben Electric's Rorr Evo Records 25,000 Bookings in 15 Days

Oben Electric said on Monday that its Rorr Evo electric motorcycle crossed 25,000 bookings within 15 days of launch, as the company prepares to begin deliveries in June 2026. The figure places the Rorr Evo among the faster demand accumulations recorded in India's electric motorcycle segment, which has grown steadily but remains a fraction of the overall two-wheeler market.

The company has opened a payment portal on its website for customers to confirm orders at the introductory price of ₹99,999 (ex-showroom), available to the first 10,000 buyers. The standard price is ₹1,24,999 (ex-showroom). Deliveries are scheduled to begin next month.

Founder and CEO Madhumita Agrawal said the booking numbers reflect broader consumer readiness to adopt electric motorcycles. "Crossing 25,000 bookings in just 15 days is not merely a strong product milestone for us, but a larger consumer signal that Indian riders are now ready to adopt electric motorcycles that deliver uncompromised performance, everyday practicality and ownership confidence," she said. Agrawal added that the electric motorcycle segment is at the front of what she described as India's next EV growth wave, and that the company is positioned to meet demand at scale.

On the retail side, Oben Electric currently operates more than 150 showrooms and dedicated service centres across 100-plus cities in 18 states. The company plans to add 200 more exclusive showrooms by the end of FY27, which would significantly expand its geographic reach. Its after-sales arm, Oben Care, holds a customer satisfaction score of 91%, according to the company — a figure it says reflects its focus on long-term ownership support.

The Rorr Evo is powered by a proprietary IPMSM motor with a peak output of 9 kW, producing 250 Nm of wheel torque and accelerating from 0 to 40 km/h in three seconds. Top speed is rated at 110 km/h. The motor is IP68-rated for dust and water resistance, and is described by the company as 40% more compact than its predecessor while delivering 20% more power. The motorcycle carries a 3.4 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery with an IDC-rated range of 180 km. It supports fast charging from 0 to 80% in 90 minutes and comes with an eight-year battery warranty.

LFP chemistry, which Oben Electric says it was among the first to adopt in Indian electric two-wheelers, is generally regarded as more thermally stable and longer-lasting than the NMC (nickel manganese cobalt) cells used in many competing products, though it typically offers a lower energy density by weight. The Rorr Evo's motor is also described as heavy rare-earth-free, a specification that has drawn attention amid global supply chain concerns around rare earth materials.

Beyond the drivetrain, the bike includes a 5-inch colour TFT display, over-the-air software updates, turn-by-turn navigation, geo-fencing, remote immobilisation, and fall detection with emergency SOS via the company's connected technology platform, ARGUS. Oben says its AI-based ride optimisation system, SmartIQ, can extend range by up to 15% depending on riding conditions. On the practical side, the motorcycle offers what the company claims is the longest seat in its segment, along with 10 litres of under-seat storage — a feature set aimed at riders who use motorcycles for daily commuting as much as performance riding.

Oben Electric manufactures its key components in-house, including batteries, motors, vehicle control units, chargers and proprietary software systems, at a 3.5-acre facility in Bengaluru. The plant has an annual production capacity of one lakh motorcycles. Vertical integration of this kind is relatively uncommon among Indian EV startups, most of which source battery packs or powertrains from third-party suppliers. Oben says the approach gives it tighter control over quality, cost, and production timelines.

The company was founded in August 2020 and holds more than 25 patents for its technology and components. It is backed by a team with over 25 years of collective experience in electric vehicle research and development.

India is the world's largest motorcycle market by volume, with tens of millions of units sold annually. Electric motorcycles currently account for a small share of total two-wheeler sales, though the segment has gained ground as upfront prices fall and consumer familiarity with EVs grows.

The country's electric two-wheeler market has been dominated by scooters, but manufacturers including Oben Electric are making a push into the motorcycle category, where internal combustion engine models from manufacturers such as Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj, and Royal Enfield remain dominant.
