Norton Manx R Clinches Bronze at 2026 International Design Excellence Awards

Norton Motorcycles has received a Bronze award at the 2026 International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) for its flagship superbike, the Norton Manx R.

Organised annually by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA), the awards recognised the Manx R in the Automotive and Transportation category during the ceremony in Pasadena, California. According to the IDEA archive, the Manx R is the first production combustion-engined sports motorcycle to win an IDEA award, the first combustion-powered motorcycle to receive recognition since 2015, and one of only a few motorcycles honoured across the programme's 45-year history.

The superbike was created as the flagship model under Norton’s Resurgence product strategy following the British marque’s acquisition by India's TVS Motor Company in April 2020. The design direction was shaped by Gerry McGovern, Chief Creative Advisor to Norton, alongside Simon Skinner, Head of Design, and the company's in-house styling and engineering teams in the UK.

"The Manx R was created to challenge what a modern superbike can look and feel like," said Skinner. "We wanted to move away from visual noise and create something more reductive, more crafted and more connected to the rider. Every surface, exposed component and detail had to earn its place."
