NOVELIC Wins “In-Cabin Innovation of the Year” at ADAS & Autonomous Vehicle Awards

NOVELIC, a subsidiary of Sona Comstar and a provider of mmWave radar solutions for the automotive industry, has received the “In-Cabin Innovation of the Year” award at the ADAS & Autonomous Vehicle International Awards 2025 in Stuttgart, Germany. The award acknowledges NOVELIC’s Automotive In-Cabin Monitoring (ACAM) solution, a 60GHz radar-based system designed for intelligent, contactless vehicle interior monitoring.

ACAM, developed entirely in-house, ensures full cabin coverage and supports safety features such as child presence detection (CPD). This functionality is expected to become a mandatory requirement under Euro NCAP’s updated protocols in 2026.

“This is a culmination of years of effort in research and development we’ve done in this field – and the prize today is not for me, but for all my colleagues who have contributed to what we’re doing. We’re fully committed to short-range radar, and radar as a solution for in-cabin monitoring, which will finally save children’s lives. Thank you to everyone who made this possible!” said Dr. Raffaele Soloperto, Vice President of Automotive Radar at NOVELIC, in his acceptance speech.

The ADAS & Autonomous Vehicle International Awards recognize innovations driving safer and more advanced mobility solutions. The In-Cabin Innovation of the Year category featured nominees including SmartEye’s Sheila and AVS’s Scaner Human Factors, with the winner determined by a panel of judges and industry readership.

NOVELIC’s ACAM module, designed for EuroNCAP-compliant child presence detection, offers power-efficient in-cabin monitoring, covering the entire interior of a five-seater vehicle. The system provides accurate seat occupancy detection, cabin intrusion alerts, and proximity warnings. ACAM is expected to enter mass production in 2026.
