Nissan X-Trail Nismo revealed
X-Trail Nismo gets chassis tweaks and sporty looks
Nissan has revealed the X-Trail Nismo, a performance-oriented iteration of its popular family SUV. Like most other Nismo-badged models, it gains a sportier appearance and chassis tweaks aimed at sharpening its dynamics without compromising everyday usability.
Central to the upgrades are KYB-supplied swing-valve dampers, engineered to absorb low-speed bumps more effectively while enhancing overall ride comfort and body control. The SUV also rides on bespoke 20-inch alloy wheels wrapped in wider Michelin Pilot Sport EV tyres, which Nissan claims improve grip, steering response, and handling compared with the standard X-Trail.
Under the hood, the Nismo retains the 1.5-litre e-Power hybrid powertrain, producing 201hp, with the petrol engine serving solely as a generator for the electric motors. The all-wheel-drive system has been recalibrated to send more power to the rear axle, promising improved agility through corners.
On the design front, the X-Trail Nismo is distinguished by a unique body kit with signature red accents, a larger front splitter, and a redesigned rear diffuser, all contributing to a 29% reduction in aerodynamic lift compared to the standard model. Inside, Nissan offers subtle trim enhancements along with the option of Recaro bucket seats for a more performance-focused cabin.
The X-Trail has long been a strong seller in global markets, though its stint in India was short-lived. Launched as a premium import, the SUV struggled due to steep pricing, with unsold inventory eventually cleared through third-party wholesale channels.
