Indian Tyre Exports Rise 16% to Rs 7,700 Crore in Q1
Tyre exports rise despite global trade and supply-chain pressures.
India’s tyre exports increased 16% year-on-year to around Rs 7,700 crore in the first quarter of FY2026-27, according to data from the Ministry of Commerce cited by the Automotive Tyre Manufacturers’ Association (ATMA).
The growth came despite geopolitical uncertainty, supply-chain disruptions and higher input and logistics costs. The April-June performance follows a record export value of Rs 27,312 crore reported by the Indian tyre industry in FY2025-26.
Passenger Car Radial Tyres Lead Export Growth
Passenger Car Radial (PCR) tyres recorded particularly strong growth during the quarter, with exports rising 21% in value terms compared with the year-ago period.
Europe and US Remain Top Markets for Indian Tyre Exports
Europe was one of the key markets driving the increase. Tyre exports to the region grew 25% to Rs 3,003 crore in Q1, accounting for nearly 40% of India’s total tyre exports during the period.
The United States remained the largest individual export market for Indian tyres, accounting for 16% of total export value in the quarter. Indian-made tyres are currently exported to more than 170 countries.
OE Exports and Trade Policy Support Could Boost Growth Further
“Growth in tyre exports during the first quarter represents a strong start to the new financial year,” said Arun Mammen, chairman, ATMA. He attributed the performance to investments by tyre manufacturers in technology, capacity, product development and quality.
India’s overseas tyre presence also extends beyond direct exports. Tyres manufactured in India and supplied as original equipment for vehicles that are subsequently exported contribute to the global presence of Indian tyre manufacturers.
ATMA said further improvements in market access through trade agreements and export policies could support the industry’s export growth and strengthen India’s position in the global tyre market.
