Nissan Motor India Implements Solar Power Systems Across Seven Dealerships

Nissan Motor India announced comprehensive sustainability initiatives on World Environment Day, installing grid-based solar electricity generation systems at seven dealerships across the country to power workshop and showroom operations entirely through renewable energy. The automotive manufacturer revealed these green initiatives on June 5, 2025, from its Gurugram headquarters as part of its broader environmental commitment strategy.

The solar installations have been completed at Acuity Nissan in Baroda, Aarav Nissan in Mehsana, three EVM Nissan dealerships in Kerala, Dada Nissan in Jalandhar, and Roshan Nissan in Jaipur. These systems generate sufficient electricity to meet complete operational requirements while redirecting excess energy to the power grid for future utilization, thereby reducing dependency on conventional energy sources.

The company has simultaneously launched nationwide tree plantation activities across all dealerships and workshops on World Environment Day. Customers receive invitations to participate in planting individual saplings, which are tagged with their names and vehicle numbers to establish personal environmental connections. Participants receive Green Service Certificates and seed packets to encourage continued tree planting activities beyond dealership premises.

Nissan has additionally reduced packaging plastic usage by 15 percent across operations, demonstrating commitment to comprehensive environmental responsibility measures.

"At Nissan, we are committed to sustainability and our global environmental philosophy goes beyond short-term goals. It's a long-term dedication to a cleaner, safer, and more inclusive future. We are focused on reducing environmental impact and minimizing resource consumption. Every step we take is guided by our vision to drive sustainable mobility and protect the world for future generations," stated Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director of Nissan Motor India.

The company recently introduced a government-approved CNG retrofitment kit for the New Nissan Magnite, available at an additional cost of INR 74,999. The CNG conversion system targets sustainability-conscious customers seeking cleaner fuel alternatives while maintaining vehicle performance standards. The retrofitment kit is currently available across seven states, including Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Kerala, and Karnataka during the initial rollout phase.

Nissan Motor India reported consolidated sales of over 99,000 units for fiscal year 2024-25, representing the company's strongest single-year performance in seven years.

The New Nissan Magnite continued as a cornerstone of domestic operations with annual sales exceeding 28,000 units. Export operations expanded significantly from 20 markets to over 65 international markets, resulting in unprecedented export sales of more than 71,000 units and establishing India as a key export hub for the company.
