Nissan India and Spinny Launch 55-Minute Vehicle Exchange Program

The partnership, rolled out across 30 cities, allows customers to assess and exchange their existing vehicles at Nissan dealerships without transferring RC documentation.

Nissan India and Spinny Launch 55-Minute Vehicle Exchange Program

Nissan Motor India has launched a vehicle exchange program in collaboration with used car platform Spinny, promising to complete the evaluation and exchange process within 55 minutes. The program, announced on March 20, 2026, is available across the current Nissan lineup at dealerships in 30 cities nationwide, and can be accessed both at physical dealership counters and through Spinny's digital interface.

Under the arrangement, dedicated Spinny evaluators are deployed at Nissan sales touchpoints to assess trade-in vehicles on the spot, based on demand and scheduled appointments. Customers who exchange their vehicles — either through physical counters at Nissan dealerships or through Spinny's digital platform — are eligible for an exchange bonus on the purchase of a new Nissan vehicle. A notable procedural change under the program is that a Spinny-issued "Selling Letter" is accepted as valid proof of exchange, removing the requirement for transferred RC (Registration Certificate) documentation. The company says this simplification is intended to reduce friction in what has traditionally been a paperwork-heavy process for Indian car buyers.

The program consolidates buying, selling, and exchange into a single location, positioning it as a one-stop process for customers looking to upgrade their vehicles. Nissan says the 55-minute timeline represents a departure from conventional exchange timelines at dealerships, which often involve multiple visits, independent vehicle assessments, and extended documentation procedures.

Beyond customer-facing benefits, Nissan says the partnership is designed to improve dealer operations by supporting used inventory management, generating incremental leads, and enabling joint marketing initiatives. By integrating digital and physical touchpoints under a single framework, the company is working to build a more responsive retail environment for both customers and dealer partners.

Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director of Nissan Motor India, said the program reflects the company's broader commitment to building a customer-first ecosystem. "Strengthening our collaboration with Spinny and introducing faster exchange timelines reinforces our focus on convenience, transparency, and value for our customers and dealer partners — while supporting our broader growth in the country," he said. Niraj Singh, Founder and CEO of Spinny, echoed the sentiment, describing the collaboration as a shared effort to make vehicle upgrades more transparent and rewarding for buyers across India.

The announcement is part of Nissan's wider push to strengthen its position in the Indian market. The company recently launched the All-New Nissan GRAVITE, priced from ₹5.65 lakh (ex-showroom), adding to its existing portfolio anchored by the Nissan Magnite, which has crossed 200,000 customers globally. The exchange program is applicable to all vehicles in Nissan's current India lineup. In 2025, Nissan Motor India recorded cumulative vehicle exports of 1.2 million units, placing it among the country's leading automobile exporters.

The used car segment in India has seen considerable growth in recent years, with platforms like Spinny, Cars24, and CarDekho competing to digitise and standardise vehicle transactions. OEM-platform partnerships of this nature — where manufacturers integrate used car evaluators directly into dealership operations — are an emerging model in the industry, aimed at capturing exchange-driven sales that might otherwise be lost to unorganised or competing channels.

Nissan Motor India Private Limited, incorporated in 2010, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Nissan Motor Co. Ltd., Japan, which has over 90 years of history in the automotive industry. The Indian subsidiary currently operates more than 280 customer touchpoints across the country and exports vehicles to 65 international markets. Spinny, founded in 2015 and headquartered in Gurugram, operates as a full-stack used car platform with a presence in major cities across India.
