MG Motor India joins hands with Gujarat Government for MG Nurture and MG Sewa Initiatives

MG Motor India has announced that it had signed two MoUs with the Government of Gujarat as part of its community-focused initiatives for students and the general public. The first MoU was entered into with ‘Kaushalya, The Skill University’, a state government institution which aims at making youth ‘Skill Smart’, under the company’s MG Nurture program. The other MoU was inked with Gujarat Labour Welfare Board as part of the MG SEWA initiative. An Ambulance (Mobile Medicare Unit: MMU) was provided to the Board to help in its outreach of welfare services. 

The MoUs were signed in the presence of  Balvantsinh Chandansinh Rajput, Cabinet Minister of Industries, Civil Aviation, Labour and Employment, Govt. of Gujarat, Dr Anju Sharma, IAS - Additional Chief Secretary, Labour, Skill Development and Employment, Director General of Kaushalya - The Skill University, Govt. of Gujarat, Anupam Anand, IAS - Labour Commissioner and Director of Skill Development, Govt. of Gujarat, Smt. Gargi Jain, IAS - Mission Director Gujarat State Biotechnology Mission, P M Shah - Director Industrial Safety and Health, Govt. Of Gujarat, H R Suthar, IAS (Retd.) – Registrar of Kaushalya - The Skill University, Govt. of Gujarat and Smt. R D Singh, GAS – Welfare Commissioner, Gujarat Labour Welfare Board, Govt. of Gujarat.

The MG Nurture program is an initiative focused on empowering students and bridging the gap between academia and industry. It collaborates with 25 colleges, aiming to upskill 20,000 students. The program's primary focus is on imparting future-ready skills through hands-on training on Electric Vehicles (EV) and Connected Vehicles in engineering colleges and ITIs throughout India. It emphasises technical and soft skills development as well as mentorship to prepare students for future challenges. The program also offers internships and real-world experiences to provide practical knowledge in a professional setting.

MG Sewa is a community engagement initiative that has been instrumental in driving societal transformation. It advocates diversity, inclusion, and overall development, aiming for equitable and collaborative growth. With four years completed, the program continues to contribute to the comprehensive and positive development of the community it serves. MG Sewa's efforts encompass various initiatives, such as children's education, skill development, and creating sustainable employment opportunities for economically disadvantaged women.

Additionally, it provides medical care for underserved individuals. During the global pandemic, the program extended its support by sanitizing elderly people's cars and generating employment for women to ensure sustainable livelihoods. Furthermore, MG Sewa assists local healthcare institutions and has already supported the education of more than 60,000 girl students.
