Mercedes-Benz Opens First Luxury Car Showroom in Patna
German automaker expands presence in emerging Indian markets with 16,500 sq ft facility operated by partner Landmark Cars
Mercedes-Benz India inaugurated its first luxury car showroom in Patna on July 21, 2025, marking the German automaker's entry into Bihar's capital city. The facility, operated by franchise partner Landmark Cars, spans 16,500 square feet and represents Mercedes-Benz's strategy to expand into emerging Indian markets.
The showroom can display the complete Mercedes-Benz lineup, including high-end models such as the S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach, and AMG performance vehicles. The facility includes a customer lounge, consultation areas, and service capabilities with trained technicians. A 60 kW DC fast charger is available for all electric vehicle owners in the city.
Santosh Iyer, Managing Director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India, said the Patna facility reflects rising demand for luxury vehicles in the region. The company identified Patna as an emerging market with growth potential, driven by increasing customer aspirations for luxury products and experiences.
Group Landmark, established in 1998, operates 138 automotive facilities across 31 cities in 11 states and union territories. The company has been a franchise partner of Mercedes-Benz India in markets including Mumbai and Gujarat. Sanjay Thakker, Chairman and Executive Director of Group Landmark, noted that Patna's rich history and cultural heritage, combined with growing luxury demand, made it an attractive market for expansion.
Mercedes-Benz now operates in 50 cities across India with over 125 luxury touchpoints. The company plans additional showrooms in Kanpur, Varanasi, and Udaipur, and has recently opened facilities in Agra and Jammu as part of its expansion into emerging markets.
Mercedes-Benz India completed 30 years of operations in 2024. The company operates a production facility in Chakan near Pune, established in 2009 with an investment exceeding 3,000 crores. The facility produces several models locally, including the A-Class, C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, and electric vehicles EQS 580 sedan and EQS SUV 450.
The Patna showroom features consultation areas with integrated media surfaces, a private consulting room for confidential discussions, and a vehicle handover bay equipped with eight screen displays. The facility follows Mercedes-Benz's global retail format emphasizing design, architecture, customer processes, and digital enhancements.
