R.C. Bhargava, Chairman of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, was honored with The ICSI Lifetime Achievement Award for Translating Excellence in Corporate Governance into Reality by The Institute of Company Secretaries of India.

The award was presented at the ICSI National Awards for Excellence in Corporate Governance on Thursday. Dr. Raj Bhushan Choudhary, Minister of State for Jal Shakti, and Padma Shri P.T. Usha, Member of Parliament and President of the Indian Olympic Association, presented the commendation to Bhargava.

The award was adjudged by a jury chaired by Dr. Justice D.Y. Chandrachud, former Chief Justice of India. Tuhin Kanta Pandey, Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Board of India, also attended the ceremony as a guest of honor.

Upon receiving the award, Bhargava credited the Maruti Suzuki management and employees for maintaining high standards of ethics and integrity over four decades. He dedicated the recognition to all members of the Maruti Suzuki family, past and present.

Bhargava emphasized that effective corporate governance requires top management to differentiate between right and wrong, act as trustees of company assets, build strong teams, and protect the legitimate interests of all stakeholders.

The Institute of Company Secretaries of India, established under the Company Secretaries Act of 1980, operates under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and regulates the profession of company secretaries in India.

This latest recognition adds to Bhargava's distinguished list of honors, including the Padma Bhushan in 2016, the Order of the Rising Sun Gold and Silver Star from Japan in 2011, and the Global Leadership Award 2025 from One World One Family Foundation.
