M&M Plans to Double SUV Capacity by FY31

Mahindra & Mahindra Limited has outlined a comprehensive automotive capacity expansion roadmap, targeting a monthly operational capacity of 82,000 units by the second half of FY27. The expansion strategy combines near-term debottlenecking across existing facilities with long-term greenfield developments to double total vehicle production capacity between FY26 and FY31.

The automaker said that by the second half of FY27, confirmed monthly capacity will reach 82,000 units, including 70,000 ICE vehicles and 12,000 BEVs. Within this allocation, 10,000 ICE units and 4,000 BEV units per month are earmarked for new product launches scheduled for FY28.

To support upcoming product lines, the company is adding 10,000 units of monthly capacity at its Chakan plant, bringing its operational capacity to 92,000 units per month by the end of FY28. For longer-term scale, a new greenfield facility announced in Nagpur will begin contributing operational capacity of approximately 20,000 units per month by the exit of H1 FY30, followed by an additional 20,000 units per month by H1 FY31.
