Work With Dignity Foundation Hosts Global Dignity Day National Inauguration in Mumbai
Initiative supported by AITWA, FADA, and ACMA honors commercial vehicle drivers, logistics personnel, and municipal frontline workers.
Non-profit organisation Work With Dignity Foundation hosted the national inauguration of Global Dignity Day 2026 at the INT Aditya Birla Performing Arts Academy in Mumbai on October 21. The event gathered over 250 participants, including frontline workers, corporate leaders, and representatives from the transport and automotive sectors, under the theme "Beyond Roles, Beyond Hierarchies – Dignity for All".
The ceremony recognized frontline personnel whose daily work supports urban infrastructure and logistics networks, including drivers, sanitation staff, public healthcare caregivers, and grassroots entrepreneurs from Dharavi.
The initiative was supported by several automotive and transport industry bodies, including AITWA, the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA), the Automotive Skills Development Council (ASDC), and the Bharat Association of Road Safety Volunteers.
Rama Shankar Pandey, Chief Executive Officer of Work With Dignity Foundation, said, "Every city depends on people whose work we see every day, but whose contributions we do not always stop to acknowledge. Global Dignity Day is an opportunity to pause, listen and recognise them. Our belief is simple: no role makes a person less worthy of dignity. We want dignity to become part of how India works every day, not just something we celebrate on one occasion."
