Lexus Begins LX 500d Deliveries in India
Luxury automaker starts shipping flagship SUV model to customers nationwide after receiving positive initial market response from buyers.
Lexus has started delivering its LX 500d SUV to customers across India, marking the launch of the company's flagship model in the domestic market. The deliveries commenced on June 11, 2025, from the company's Bangalore operations.
The LX 500d has generated customer interest in India's luxury SUV segment, according to company statements. The vehicle is available in two configurations: Urban and Overtrail variants, targeting different customer preferences from city driving to off-road use.
The SUV features a twin-turbo V6 diesel engine and includes the Lexus Safety System +3.0 technology package. Additional features include Lexus Connect Technology for telematics and air bladder-based front seats designed for extended driving comfort.
Hikaru Ikeuchi, President of Lexus India, stated that the company views the LX 500d launch as part of its strategy to offer diverse mobility solutions while working toward sustainability goals. The executive noted customer enthusiasm for the new model and emphasized the company's focus on customer experience and innovation.
Lexus India has introduced service packages alongside the vehicle launch. The Lexus Luxury Care program offers three tiers - Comfort, Relax, and Premiere - with coverage options ranging from three years/60,000 kilometers to eight years/160,000 kilometers.
The Japanese luxury brand entered the Indian market in March 2017 and currently offers five vehicle models, four of which use hybrid electric powertrains. The ES 300h, which began local production in 2020, remains the brand's most popular model in India.
Lexus operates globally in over 90 countries and has sold more than 2 million hybrid vehicles since introducing the world's first luxury hybrid. The brand launched internationally in 1989 and created the luxury crossover category with the RX model in 1998.
