Kinetic Communications Limited inaugurated a new automated manufacturing line for electric vehicle motor controller units at its Pune facility on July 1, 2025. The facility was opened by Padmashri Dr. Arun Firodia, Chairman of Kinetic Group, along with Director Deepak Shikarpur and Vice Chairman Ajinkya Firodia.

The new production line manufactures Motor Controller Units (MCUs), which manage the relationship between batteries and motors in electric vehicles. These units control acceleration, braking, and energy efficiency while enabling features such as hill-hold assist, cruise control, and regenerative braking.

The facility operates with Surface Mount Technology and automated assembly systems controlled through Human Machine Interface and Programmable Logic Controller systems. The line can produce 300 units per shift and has an annual capacity of 180,000 units under two-shift operations.

"The new fully automated controller line marks a significant stride toward Industry 4.0-driven smart manufacturing," said Ajinkya Firodia, Vice Chairman of Kinetic Group. He described the facility as bringing intelligence, speed, and scalability to operations with data-driven processes benchmarked to global quality standards.

Director Deepak Shikarpur characterized the facility as an example of advanced Make in India manufacturing, noting its automation and precision capabilities position India in global EV electronics manufacturing.

The production line includes high-speed SMT systems that can place up to 40,000 components per hour with full verification. Quality control measures include 3D Solder Paste Inspection, Automated Optical Inspection, and In-Circuit Testing. The facility uses lead-free dual wave soldering technology and includes end-of-line testing and pre-dispatch inspection procedures.

Kinetic Communications Limited is part of the Kinetic Group and operates in India's Electronics Manufacturing Services and Electric Vehicle sectors. The company has previously achieved revenues exceeding ₹100 crore and focuses on providing solutions to original equipment manufacturers in the automotive electronics sector.

The company aims to achieve zero parts-per-million defects through the new facility while reducing costs through automation and process efficiency. Alternate production lines and contingency systems are designed to maintain delivery schedules during market demand fluctuations.
