Autocar Professional’s May 15, 2026 Edition is Out!

This edition of Autocar Professional examines the sharp turnaround of India’s two-wheeler industry in FY2026, a year that began cautiously but closed with one of the sector’s strongest performances in recent memory. After an initial phase marked by affordability pressures, delayed replacement cycles and weak consumer sentiment, the market regained momentum in the second half of the year, aided significantly by GST-led price corrections that improved accessibility, especially in the commuter motorcycle category.

The latest edition explores how this recovery evolved into a broad-based industry resurgence. Urban and rural demand expanded almost in tandem, scooters continued to outperform motorcycles, premium bikes gained traction, and electric two-wheelers sustained growth despite persistent concerns around charging infrastructure. The magazine also analyses the intensifying competition among leading manufacturers as the market becomes increasingly fragmented across segments.

This edition further highlights how Hero MotoCorp retained its leadership position through the enduring popularity of Splendor and its deep rural penetration, while Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India faced growing pressure from rivals in the scooter and EV space. Particular attention is given to the rise of TVS Motor Company, whose Jupiter scooter, iQube EV and expanding premium portfolio positioned it as a formidable long-term challenger.

The issue also reflects on the changing dynamics of India’s EV market, where buyers are increasingly prioritising reliability, after-sales service and ownership experience over aggressive pricing, even as competition intensifies in the premium motorcycle segment led by Royal Enfield and the Bajaj-Triumph alliance.

Autocar Professional magazine is available through all good newsagents and for download from Magzster.
