Hyundai Motor India Launches New AMT Variant of AURA Sedan
The S AMT variant priced at ₹8.07 lakh aims to make automatic transmission technology more accessible to entry-level sedan buyers.
Hyundai Motor India Limited announced the launch of a new variant of its AURA sedan today. The S AMT variant introduces automated manual transmission (AMT) technology to the entry-level sedan segment at a price of ₹8.07 lakh (ex-showroom).
The new variant targets young Indian buyers seeking convenience features in an affordable sedan. According to Tarun Garg, Whole-Time Director and Chief Operating Officer at Hyundai Motor India Limited, the company aims to democratize advanced transmission technology and enhance customer convenience through this launch.
The AURA S AMT is powered by a 1.2-liter Kappa petrol engine and includes several safety and comfort features. Standard equipment includes electronic stability control, hill start assist control, LED daytime running lamps, and six airbags. The vehicle also features a tire pressure monitoring system, outside rearview mirrors with electric folding and turn indicators.
Hyundai Motor India Limited has positioned this launch as part of its strategy to make smart mobility accessible to a broader customer base. The company operates from Gurugram, Haryana, and has been manufacturing vehicles in India since 1996.
The AURA sedan competes in India's entry-level sedan segment, where automatic transmission options have traditionally been limited due to cost considerations. The introduction of AMT technology, which is typically less expensive than conventional automatic transmissions, represents an attempt to bridge the gap between manual and automatic transmission preferences among Indian consumers.
