HARMAN Technologies Power Tata Sierra's Return with Advanced Connectivity Features
The iconic SUV debuts with 5G-ready telematics, premium audio system, and sophisticated in-cabin digital experiences.
The all-new Tata Sierra has launched with an extensive suite of connectivity and entertainment technologies developed by HARMAN International, marking a significant expansion of the partnership between the technology company and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd.
At the center of the vehicle's technology offering is HARMAN Ready Connect, a locally manufactured telematics control unit suite that provides 5G-ready connectivity built on a modular architecture designed for migration from 4G to 5G networks. The system enables features including emergency calling, stolen vehicle tracking, over-the-air updates, and HD streaming capabilities within the cabin.
The Sierra's infotainment system incorporates a Horizon View Display with individualized entertainment options, gaming support with controller compatibility, and Dolby Atmos audio enhancement. The vehicle also features practical technologies such as Surround View System, blind-spot monitoring, and integrated navigation powered by MapmyIndia.
Audio capabilities come from a 12-speaker JBL system with an enclosed subwoofer and soundbar, which HARMAN describes as a first for an Indian automaker. The system includes features such as Relax Mode for calming audio-visual experiences and Silent Mode for selective alert muting.
HARMAN has begun manufacturing the Ready Connect telematics product at its Pune facility as part of the company's Make-in-India initiative. According to company officials, local production enables shorter development cycles and technology adapted to Indian driving conditions.
"With the Sierra, our focus was to create a cabin experience that feels as advanced and intuitive as the world our customers live in," said Mohan Savarkar, Chief Product Officer at Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. "Our collaboration with HARMAN enables us to deliver a future-ready architecture, immersive in-cabin experiences and premium audio."
The partnership between TMPV and HARMAN, which began approximately 12 years ago with audio systems, has expanded to include displays, connectivity solutions, and infotainment platforms. The Sierra also offers access to HARMAN Ready Link Marketplace, a digital commerce platform for in-vehicle Android applications and third-party content.
The launch represents the return of the Sierra nameplate, which HARMAN executives describe as an iconic vehicle in India's automotive history, now updated with modern connectivity and entertainment technologies for contemporary consumers.
