Ducati has launched the Hypermotard V2 and Hypermotard V2 SP in India, priced at Rs 16.53 lakh and Rs 20.78 lakh, respectively (ex-showroom). Bookings for both motorcycles are open across Ducati dealerships in the country.

Both variants are powered by a new 890cc Ducati V2 engine producing 120hp at 10,750rpm and 94Nm of torque at 8,250rpm. The engine weighs 54.4kg, which Ducati says makes it the lightest twin-cylinder engine it has produced. The fourth-generation Hypermotard also features a new monocoque frame and a revised electronics package.

Ducati Hypermotard V2: Engine and performance

The 890cc V-twin engine uses an IVT variable intake valve timing system. According to Ducati, 70 percent of peak torque is available at 3,000rpm. With the optional racing exhaust, output increases by 3.6hp, while weight reduces by a further 4kg.

The new monocoque frame uses the engine as a structural element and is paired with a double-sided aluminium swingarm. Compared with the previous generation, the standard Hypermotard V2 is 13kg lighter, while the V2 SP is 14kg lighter.

Both motorcycles have a seat height of 880mm and a supermotard-style riding position with wide handlebars and repositioned footpegs.

Ducati Hypermotard V2 SP: Features and equipment

The Hypermotard V2 SP is equipped with fully adjustable Öhlins NIX30 48mm upside-down front forks and an Öhlins STX46 rear monoshock. It also gets forged aluminium wheels, Brembo M50 brake callipers and Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV Corsa tyres.

The standard Hypermotard V2 uses fully adjustable 46mm Kayaba upside-down front forks, a Kayaba rear monoshock adjustable for preload and rebound, cast alloy wheels and Brembo M4.32 brake callipers. It is fitted with Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres.

The V2 SP has a kerb weight of 177kg without fuel, compared with 180kg for the standard V2. The SP also gets a carbon-fibre front fender and a lithium battery, while the standard model uses a lead-acid battery.

Ducati Hypermotard V2: Electronics and safety systems

Both variants feature a six-axis inertial measurement unit-based electronics package, including cornering ABS, Ducati Traction Control, Ducati Wheelie Control, Engine Brake Control and Ducati Quick Shift 2.0. The motorcycles also have a 5-inch full-TFT instrument display.

The standard V2 SP equipment includes Ducati Power Launch and a pit limiter. These features are available as accessories on the standard Hypermotard V2. The electronics interface offers Road, Road Pro and Track information modes, while the SP specification also lists Race, Sport, Road and Wet riding modes.

Ducati Hypermotard V2, V2 SP: Price in India

The Ducati Hypermotard V2 is priced at Rs 16.53 lakh (ex-showroom India) and is available in Ducati Red. The Hypermotard V2 SP costs Rs 20.78 lakh (ex-showroom India) and comes in a dedicated SP livery. Bookings are open at Ducati dealerships across India.
