BYD India Opens 42nd Showroom in Sonipat

BYD India, a subsidiary of global New Energy Vehicle manufacturer BYD, has inaugurated its 42nd dealership showroom in India, located in Sonipat, Haryana, in partnership with SAMTA BYD to expand its presence in North India.

The 2,000 sq. ft. showroom will showcase BYD's complete electric vehicle range including the BYD SEALION 7, BYD SEAL, BYD ATTO 3, and BYD eMAX 7, while providing customers with test drives, financing options, and after-sales support.

This marks the second BYD showroom in partnership with SAMTA BYD (Samta Greentech LLP), following their first collaboration in Karnal which features a state-of-the-art facility with a fully equipped workshop.

Rajeev Chauhan, Head of Electric Passenger Vehicles Business at BYD India, said, "The launch of our 42nd showroom in India reflects BYD's continued commitment to expanding clean mobility across key regions. Haryana is a high-potential EV market, and with partners like SAMTA BYD, we are confident in delivering not just world-class electric vehicles, but also a seamless and engaging customer experience. Sonipat is an important step in our journey to bring sustainable innovation closer to communities across India."

Bhupesh Sahni (Director) & Bhanu Khetarpal (Director) of SAMTA BYD have stated, "We are proud to partner once again with BYD in bringing cutting-edge sustainable mobility solutions to Sonipat. With increasing awareness and demand for sustainable transportation, our new facility is well-positioned to cater to the needs of this growing market."

The Sonipat showroom launch comes at a time when BYD is accelerating its retail footprint in India, targeting Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities with rising EV adoption. According to the company, the strategy includes not only expanding physical presence but also enhancing digital engagement and service infrastructure to support long-term customer retention. With the SEALION 7 and eMAX 7 joining BYD’s growing portfolio, the brand is positioning itself to cater to both premium and utility-focused segments.

Industry analysts view BYD’s expansion as part of a broader shift in India’s EV landscape, where global players are increasingly investing in localized operations and partnerships.

BYD India was established in March 2007 in Chennai with an office in New Delhi. The company operates two factories covering more than 140,000 sq. m with an investment exceeding $200 million. In 2024, BYD sold over 4.27 million New Energy Vehicles worldwide, registering year-on-year growth of 41.26% globally.
